I tried it out yesterday, and it still won't let me use the multitouch capabilities of my touchpad. Oh well, back to Windows for now.

I've been considering moving to Debian lately since I don't really like the direction Ubuntu's taking. I don't want a music store. I don't want Ubuntu One. I don't want social networking to be integrated with my desktop environment. I don't want a Software Center; Synaptic and aptitude work just fine for me.

I know I don't have to use any of these things, but they seem like unnecessary bloat to me.

(Also the window controls are on the wrong side of the window, but that's easily fixable).

I'm downloading the Kubuntu 10.04 DVD image right now... it'll be another 20 minutes before the torrent finishes here, though =/

I installed this on my netbook last night.

Compared to 9.10, it's almost a dream. I can't completely use my old GTK themes anymore (buttons appear on the left side, looks ugly in LaGaDesk themes) but it's still quite nice. I've yet to try it on my desktop or on my laptop (x64) though.

If this starts falling apart like 9.10 did, though, I'm shifting over to Crunchbang once they finally get their first debian-based version out.

Paulguy's Post configuration
It should've been liger, as a fun reference to mac os 10.4 tiger. :p At least a lynx is a kind of cat, anyway.

As for me, I might try it in a VM sometime.

I'm downloading it now...

They say on the website it's fast... I hope it's true, because what bothers me of Ubuntu is that its way slower to boot than Windows...
It looks quite cool, anyways...

I'll have to put the scraps I brought from work together later this evening or something and put it on a testbench comp I've got at home here. 9.10 didn't really thrill me like 9.04 did. That and I have a KVM to use and see what I can make tick between these two systems.

Additionally, I've also got an overkill-sized fan I need to see if I can get running in this main comp that I haven't tried yet.

And the next release will be called Maverick Meerkat.

Not a terrible name, I suppose...

Funfact: Meerkats are my favorite animal.

More on topic: I'll be trying this out soon. 9.10 didn't impress me that much, but this one could be different. Hopefully.

No problems on here, although I had to up the RAM in my VirtualBox VM to 1024 MB (from 768 MB), since it was a little slow to boot up with 768 MB... =/

Still, I've noticed an improvement over 9.10; however, it takes forever to shut down on VirtualBox. =/

Just installed it, and it's really faster to boot up.

The only thing that has bothered me is the window buttons, which are located at the left. What's the point in moving them???
See this to change it: http://www.codigomanso.com/en/2010/04/ubuntu-10-4-poner-el-boton-de-cerrar-la-ventana-a-la-derecha/

I use Lucid Lynx at work and it's pretty good so far, it's no better or worse than Karmic really (so far.)

The machines at work are relatively low end by today's standard because 95% of what we do is command line, but it performs fine.

And I just downloaded 9.10 about a month ago.

Good work, Gabu!
