I just want to ask that you all to keep me in your thoughts this week. I applied for a job at a bank and I REALLY want this to come through for me. I am not asking for you to say a prayer or anything, but if you would like to that would be great. I need all the help I can get from whatever spirit, deity, person, or if it pleases you, an abyssal hole in the fabric of time and space to get this job.

Haven't had much luck after a long time spent searching. I have gotten tons of calls back asking for interviews though. I pass the interview with flying colors but someone always gets chosen over me evidently. I just really want this job.

Persistence really is the key. If you want it bad enough, you'll get something.

Only speaking from experience in that regard because it kinda sucks keeping up with that persistence sometimes when it boils down to it.

Pretty much the best thing you can do. You'll know eventually if it's worth your time to get it or not.

When I was getting a lifeguard job, I would go in about every couple of weeks or so to see if any new spots had opened up. Even though there was another person ahead of me, I was contacted first because I had shown much more interest in the position than he had.

In other words, good plan!

I know how you feel. I've been trying to get a job since freaking August and I still have nothing to show for it except 100+ applications and only one interview, in October.

It took me about 2.5 years to get a job to replace my tutoring position, and it even paid less.

Hopefully it'll take less time than that to find a job in Seattle, although I should have a degree by then at least.

I had been unemployed for almost two years, and couldn't even get hired at K-Mart. Then last week I got hired as Linux Systems Administrator for a local webhosting company and I started yesterday.. it's by far the best job I've ever had.

Same can be said about my current Computer Technician/IT job that I have. Worked a gas station and RadioShack in tandem for a year or so at 55-75 hours a week, sometimes not getting a day off during the week. I was happy when this one came down the pipes when it did (even if there was a LOT I had to take on in electrical/mechanical engineering as well).

Mostly because if it didn't work out anyways, there's probably something better you're going to find down the road. It's just how it works out. The unfortunate thing is that you're never quite sure of it until you finally get it.
