It would appear that Apple has been given a license to print money. Whether you like them or not, they keep putting out popular products. Now we'll have to see how much staying power the iPad has, since its even more of a niche item than the iPhone. But with the economy on the rebound, I think it will continue to be a hot item through this coming holiday season.

I didn't bother to waste my money on one of these iPads... if I were to get a tablet PC, I'd get a Lenovo or Asus tablet instead... much cheaper, and a far wider array of software available for it. =D

And as with every new piece of technology, someone does something stupid with it. In this case, its the now release 3G 64GB version... Some people have too much money and time.

Being a "dull" Apple user, I still actually want to eventually get my hands on an iPad (probably not the 3G model) to replace my aging iPod touch sometime in the future. I have two desktop machines and a laptop that is on its last legs, and I don't want to replace the latter with a netbook that is going to last only a year or two before it has a catastrophic hardware failure. An iPad could be a "desktop extension" that I could actually put to good use and I'd be willing to pay a premium for something I know is going to last a while.

For some people, its an effective tool. More so than a laptop or netbook. Its portable, good battery life, and very easy to use. If I had more use for one, I would definitely get it right away. Since I don't need it, I'll have to wait till it comes down in price or I rack up the cash to get one as a toy.
