EDIT against link: Duh? I think a lot of us have known that for some time. Japan and Sweden get friggin fast speeds at our price for net at OUR speed. Difference is we're huge, they ain't AND they care enough to support their whole country while we have to -supposedly- wait until 2015 until we get 100Mbps lines.

The internet here at college is faster than the internet I have back at home.

Either way, Comcast was a mess this summer, I'm really hoping that by the time I go back home, that they've straightened everything out.

There are three plausible problems:

1) Winstream sucks with Internet service.
2) Router is a cheap Belkin one that overheats frequently.
3) The way the Internet is connected here on the desktop, it has to go through my laptop then to the router wirelessly, therefore being slower than normal.

Any of the three could be the issue. 1 is impossible to fix, 2 requires a new router, and 3 requires my parents buy me a wireless card for the desktop or allow me to connect the desktop to the router by a wire that goes through the house (which my mom doesn't want wires).
