Paulguy's Post configuration
What's the issue with Windows and capture cards? Why so incompatible? This is like, the one place where linux does better in compatibility (as long as it's not something terribly new). You always have awful incompatibility and you always have to use some really shitty bundled software or else you don't get video or don't get audio or just doesn't work/get detected at all.

EasyCap's a bit cheap.

I've been pondering getting a Hauppauge HD PVR 1212 for a while now, however. It's been the one of choice by a lot of LPers (most notably MasterLL) and it seems to have very good quality overall. Bad thing is that it will set you back about 200 bucks for it.

Hiryuu: last thing I've bought would be the HD-PVR.

The quality ridiculously great. Seriously.

That's pretty much going to get me back into the swing of things this summer then if I can get some time to go through and do it. It'd be a fun experiment with the PS3, if nothing else...

...that and to make it non-suck so as it doesn't look like every LP on the face of the planet that's just a playthrough...or playthrough worthy of Retsuprae.

I also have a Hauppauge HD PVR and can agree that it looks very nice. I have my directv box connected to it and use it to watch and sometimes record TV.

If you plan on using it with the PS3, make sure you have component cables, because it doesn't support HDMI.

Not if you're looking for quality that's worth it. I tried external USBs for 25 dollars and they tended to make my system go unstable and now no longer work with W7.

Hauppage, so far, has won the hearts of a lot in that vein...and I've done a TON of research on the subject.

EDIT: Aera, yea...that was the big downer but then all of them are kind of lacking in the HDCP department for 200 or less. If I had something that decrypted it, I'd by myself a new computer.

Well my classic controller pro and adapter came in and I have to say it's great. Everything that's good about a ps1 pad and everything that's good about a snes pad combined. It's also black. It also seems to work better than my old one... More responsive. The buttons are nice and clicky and not mushy and the dpad is much more responsive. I think my old adapter also had some lag because it seems like stuff is actually more in control with this new one.

Didn't know they made a V2 of that. I nearly considered getting something like that or one of those Zboard ones given how much, on the PC, I'd rather use the keyboard for control than an actual controller (read: messy PS3 controller/driver that works in Test Mode).

My wife had one of those... kind of useless really. She used the hotkeys for WoW macros and her account kept getting suspended for using 3rd party software hacks... So I just showed her how to make the same macros in game and she never used the software again. She never even looked at the LCD info either.

The WoW Zboards, you mean? I had heard about that particular issue happening a lot and pissing a lot of people off that bought into those only to get what you're talking about here, at least.

Except I'm not a WoW player, really...most of my problems are dealing with the friggin key-limit restrictions when I go to knock something down on ZSNES or something. Hard-limited to where you can only press certain key combinations at once and I've never been able to find a software fix for something like that. I assumed it was all keyboard.

I meant the Logitech G15. But its the same principle. It uses its own software so you can make macros and profiles for multiple games. But WoW recognizes it as 3rd party hacks and bans your account when it notices you're using the software. Its pretty stupid. Happened to her 3 or 4 times before we realized what was going on.

I find it pretty useful, since I do a lot of work when the lights are out (can't see the keys...) and I tend to use the LCD/Media keys a lot because of the Media plugin it has for winamp. 'Nother thing I like is the game switch, since I cna just leave that on basically 24/7
