I remember hearing about this a few years ago.

Currently he is under 24 hour surveillance and has been admitted to a hospital for 108 hours. However, since he has not passed a stool or urine within that time frame, making any hypotheses has been quite difficult.

This is a fascinating find and I really hope we learn something from it. The possibilities are exciting. There's always something new to learn.

I don't know if he's getting his energy from meditating... or sucking it from you... look at the way he's staring at the camera towards the end of the video. Freaky.

Ah the third world stare. I've been to India and Pakistan. It's when the less fortunate ensnare you with their mystical gaze.

It could be possible that this man may have an extremely low metabolism, and may possibly eat dirt.

Possibly.

I mean there's no way anyone can survive without food or water for even a whole month.

One must wonder how crafty the man is as unless they hold him in there for quite a while, there's no telling what he might do to conceal anything that'd contradict his claims.

Well he's been there for 108 hours as the one doctor said. So he's been there for a little less than 5 days. That's already longer than humans can go without water. Any longer than THAT is extraordinary enough. I figure if anyone can last that long it would HAVE to be a Jain. Although I don't believe in extreme restriction, I do admire the tenacity.

If this turns out to be legit, he's going to be more scrutinized than most things under a microscope. That would easily be one of the more 'wow' things that I've heard in quite a while if they were able to somehow replicate it.

Does anyone know how old this man is?

I've looked around (Albet briefly) and can not find the age of this man.

Humans can indeed survive without food or water for long periods of time. Months however would take a shit load of willpower. This man is a perfect example of mind over matter. Which has been a testament of human nature for thousands of years.

If he is able to live without food and water as this article claims he has been. Then money should be thrown at researchers to find out how this being is able to walk around. This is a breakthrough in human knowledge!

On the other hand, if he continues to live there without any sneaky business, then the next step is, yes, to determine where his energy is coming from instead.

Well, humans use only a small percentage of their full brain function in their every day existence. It could be possible that through meditation he was able to unlock the hidden potential of the human brain. It has already been proven that meditation increases your life expectancy and resistance to disease so it is entirely possible that this might be a more extreme case. I would be doing tons of memory and cognitive thought tests to discover if his lifestyle provides a higher brain function. It could be related to the phenomena of people with Autism being incredibly gifted in a centralized area of study; except this would be on a more generalized scale. This could be a milestone in the evolution of mankind! History could be made!

How would you prove something like that?

Seeing that the brain consumes quite a bit of energy, I would suspect that if he is doing at least something like what he's claiming to be doing, then his brain activity would actually be less than usual so that he doesn't use too much energy.
Also: If you're saying what I think you're saying when you say, "humans use only a small percentage of their full brain function in their every day existence", then that is because our brains are specialized so that if we were to use more of our brain's "potential" in our daily lives, it would be a waste of energy because the extra activity wouldn't help with what we're trying to focus on, hence why I doubt this is the case with this guy.

Now, I doubt that he's actually gone 70 years without consuming at least something on a somewhat regular basis, but we'll just have to see what happens over the next couple of weeks, or so.

Actually, that's what Hokuto Shinken is for.

I'm starting to think that he's unlocked the ability to use photosynthesis as nourishment, if this proves to be factual.

I'm thinking he has some kind of mutualistic relationship with microorganisms living in him. How fitting for a Jain.
