All rap to me sounds the same; high levels of base, lots of annoying drivel about ho's/bling-bling/gangsters/etc.

No, that particular genre, for the most part, sounds the same. Very little of it is worth listening to my ears.

Whereas some other songs, such as "Wind of Change" (Scorpions) and "Dream On" (Aerosmith) are very, very good in my opinion.

I'm not judging by the "worst of the worst" -- it really is most rap that I hear.

Then again most mainstream stuff is like that, yet people dig the same stuff over and over again. I don't really like the genre, but when I hear some of the really old stuff, I don't dislike it.
