I hope that if I ever get summoned, it'll be for a high profile case or something like you see on Law and Order. They make the court room see so fast and dramatic. But when you watch coverage of a case on Court TV or something it's boring and slow. Luckily my job pays in addition to the money from the state, but its only $8 an hour for max of 3 days worth, 24 hours.

I did have fun but it was a pain since it was a drive and they don't pay for gas or food. And my work is dumb.

But I think you can put gas/food expenses on your tax form so I need to make sure that I do that next year.

Because they forgot. I don't know. I gave the paper work to two managers.

There's more to the story in another thread that I kept in the hidden forum, might as well put it in officer's...here.

I got jury duty too, but I lucked out and postponed it into December break.

Go me!

Friend of mine kept putting his off. Mainly because every time they would send him a new summon, he had something he had to do with school. Finally he went and he didn't get picked.

Lucky him. Thats the way it works though, you got a 50/50 chance. You'll either be picked... or you won't...

I gave the papers to HR and she told me that I should have my jury duty pay on this coming Friday's paycheck or the follow Friday (I get paid every week). I really hope I get paid for this. Jury duty was fun for me, but if I have to go through the drama of not getting paid for it, I don't think it is worth doing then.

Nope, didn't get paid for jury duty yet. The HR lady did say it might take two weeks. I swear I had better see it on my next pay check. Getting paid only $60 bucks blows.

I just got a check from the government for $60.

Work has yet to pay me.

How many days was that for? I know states are having budget crisis and all that, but seems pretty low.

I was there for 5 days. Employers can choose to pay only 3 days and then the government pays you.

Still haven't gotten paid for jury duty. And this is rent week.

I think its time to go higher up and get something done. Is there someone else above whoever you talk to in HR that can get a check cut right away? It's just not right for them to not pay you over and over again.

Not that I know of. I need to head to HR on Monday with my pay stub to show them that I still haven't been paid yet. (This is getting f/old.) If they don't pay me, this is a whole can of worms since I can just call the courthouse and take that route.

But are they required to pay you? I mean I want you to get your money, but would the courthouse do anything even if they aren't required to pay your normally wages the first 3 days? Or is it because they've already said they will pay?

Maybe they won't but I know it's required by law that my job pays me for those three days that I missed. Maybe they can call my place of work and ask why I haven't gotten paid yet.

Since I haven't gotten paid for jury duty yet, rent is going to be late and they're going to charge us an extra $130 for being a few days late.

I'm going to call HR and leave a message since no one is there until Monday and then sometime Monday (after work) head to HR and ask why I still haven't been paid for jury duty.

This freaking blows.
