And the Linux crew continues to rage.

From April 1st on this has been a constant against the PS3.

Legitimate complaint.

To frame this otherwise, imagine that an update to the Wii would eliminate the ability to use the SD card slot, because of security concerns. Same exact thing -- you're losing a feature, advertised with the console, that contributed to your reasoning to purchase it.

Personally I hope this lawsuit sends Sony and everyone else a message.

...There's a difference between making a sarcastic quip and a failure to be funny, and I think that one falls pretty squarely under the last one.

Sony really seems to enjoy ticking their users off. I do hope they do not weasel out of this one like they did the rootkit scandal.

I agree that they advertised a feature and then subsequently removed them makes them bogus, sure, but at the same time I just have a feeling that Sony already has those rights to do so covered up in ridiculous fine print when you bought the machine.

Then again, perhaps this is one of those cases where they guys took the time and the effort to read through said fine print, find holes in the argument, and jump on the case after considering it. Within three weeks time, though? Not so sure.

It seems that in the EU, at least, they are not able to be covered by such a crock of shit fine print, but nobody's gone after them there yet.

Personally, if it does end up being protected by Dewey Cheetem & Howe's fine print, I hope this goes further and ends up making this kind of bullshit illegal.

One of the major points covered, though, is if they rule against the plaintiff on something like this, it could pave the way to pull access from PSN being free just because they have something to go on with tempo.

They've been wanting to do that for a while now.
