I'm sure that at least a good number of you have heard of Miku Hatsune.

Crypton Future Media announced recently that Miku would get an upgrade to "MIKU Append," which will feature several different "voices":

Soft, Dark, Solid, Vivid, Sweet, and Light.

Her character has been updated with a new look as well. MIKU Append will be released on April 30th, 2010.

MIKU Append's website on CRYPTON Future Media.

Also note, please either clear your cache or do a full refresh by bypassing the cache (Ctrl+R or Ctrl+F5) to get the latest updates to my stylesheet.

Out of all of the new voices there was only one that I didn't really care for, also I kinda like her old look a bit better to be honest.

I'm really looking forward to what people are going to be doing with this update! I'm a huge fan of Miku, I'm hoping some of the bigger names in Vocaloid songwriting will be pouncing on this!

I'm just curious as to why people prefer to use Vocaloid instead of just their own voice + Melodyne.

I'm mean it'd be kind of silly if the only reason they did so was because of the mascot.

Uh... Melodyne can really alter your voice, pitch, and everything to where it doesn't even sound like you. A lot. In fact it is quite scary as to how much it can alter pitch and such.

Sort of like Content Aware Fill in Photoshop now.

Well for one, if you're like me, you can't sing at all. Programming a Vocaloid to sing for you is much easier, not to mention it won't annoy your roomates (headphones as apposed to yelling into a mic).

This. I have a fairly decent voice yet I still use Melodyne for touch-ups, sour notes, and other things to help bring a track together. I swear by it. I used to use Vocaloid's VSTi for harmonies but its not even necessary anymore--plus it sounded really cheesy ;x
