I'm moving to the USA in a few days and I want to get a laptop (I figured it would be convenient for college) but I am not really that good when it comes to choosing so I want you guys to help me! Here's what I'm interested in:

-Must be small, not netbook small just not over 16~ inches (ie. not huge)
-Good for gaming; good enough to play The Sims 2/3 and emulate the GBA/SNES/N64.
-Over 150GB of HD, preferably
-Good battery life, say 6 hours
-Being able to read/burn DVDs would be a plus.
-The price must not be over 600, I'm not rich :/

I'm currently looking at this one: on best buy - Granted, it's the first result when I searched in Google but it seems to have everything I want ... although it doesn't mention anything about battery life which is turning me off...

So, any suggestions?

I had not previously seen this machine, but its $600 with a dedicated video card and everything else you specified except for battery life. Getting anything with a decent video card or graphics capable will not have 6 hours standard battery life. But you could probably find a 12 cell battery that would boost the 2.5 hours to 3.5 or more

You can go with a laptop with integrated graphics, such as this but you would barely be able to play Sims 3 on minimum settings and even then it's choppy. I know because my wife's previous laptop could barely handle it. But this one does say 8 hours battery life. But its only 32 bit, which adds to the battery life but at a loss of computing power.
