Do you follow expiration dates? If a food is said to expire next week, will you still eat it? What if it's after the date?

Yes, I follow expiration dates very carefully, I wouldn't want to taste anything bad.

I usually do pay attention to them. I won't buy an expired item in the shop (if I do by accident, I just get rid of it). I won't buy one near to the date, but I probably would eat it.

I was about to make PB&J, when I noticed that the jelly was set to go bad next week. So I threw it out just in case.

Not to mention that I must always check the date on milk products for when I run erranda for my mother sometimes, and I always grab the milk in the back behind the other gallons.

Once, I accidentally bought expired milk from the local grocery store, and trust me... it sure was nasty... =(

At least I always check the expiration dates on different products (milk (both soy and cow)), bread, and medication...

I have two inhalers that are expired. Doctor said that they should be okay to use still.

I didn't think inhalers can expire.

My tech friend has to use an inhaler, even at work. Too bad it couldn't of been me instead of him.

At work, I look forward to expiration dates. Cause it mean (in the case of food) that it gets written off and goes to the staff room, first come first serve. And usually it's still good afterwards.

Dairy products, bread, non-frozen meats... yes

Candy, chips, popcorn... no

I check expiration dates sometimes, usually only if I think something is very old though. I won't throw something out in anticipation of the expiration date, just on or after it (or for another reason).

My parents totally ignore the dates apparently. I've used hand lotion there recently that expired in 2005.

For food I do check the expiry date. I'll usually eat it if it's set to expire in the same day, one day after that and I'll just throw it away.

There's some stuff, however, with expiry dates even though it doesn't really expire (like water or lemonade, or medicine). Obviously I'll ignore the expiry date in that case.

I let a bag of bread turn a yucky blue colour once when I had forgotten about that bag of bread, I was certainly stupid not knowing that the bread I could have used was still there.

I've done that kind of stuff too. "Oh shit! I forgot to put that in the freezer!" Or I eat part of some food, then go grocery shopping and buy other stuff and eat it, and never go back to the food I had before.

I kind of learned that lesson though, still happens from time to time since my mind is so forgetful.

Silly me I suppose..

That happens a lot to bread for me.

I buy some, then someone decides to buy more, and the first bread lingers somewhere in the corner and develops its own biologic diversity.

I buy bread much less often now, preferably the smaller loafs of bread, since they have a small amount so I don't waste a whole lot.

I don't believe I have tried sourdough before, not sure if I would like it though, from the sound of its name anyways.

I get sourdough baguettes occasionally, and I actually think they're pretty good.

I think Kassad meant that the bread gets mouldy though
