Here.

I'm a bit disappointed. US money tends to look rather dull compared to most countries' currencies IMO, and they still seem incredibly reluctant to strongly colour-code the bills to make it easy to select and identify the correct denomination. I liked identifying notes right away by colour in Germany. "Let's see, I have 2 blues and 2 reds, that's 60€." Also, those fonts are really hard to read.

Still, it looks a lot better than the old bill, at least on the front (the back doesn't seem to have changed much). Not that I encounter $100 bills much. If I get one, I just put it in my bank account rather than breaking it over a $6.35 purchase and hoping that the store has $93.65.

Color code is freaking sweet.

20 bills are purple, 50 bills are yellow, 100 bills are green, 500 are red and, 1000bills are gray. (Sweden)

...not that I will ever walk around with bills anymore now that I got a card! :3

It's an enigma
----------------------------------------------------
Color coding bills makes me think of rupees. Which is okay in my book

But yeah... Honestly, I like everything on the new bill EXCEPT for that ugly blue strip just kinda shoved in there. I'm actually surprised it took them this long to redo the 100. I mean, they've redone the 20, 10, and 5 already

Yeah, the blue strip just kinda stands out as weird and ugly. Sure, it's in the name of security, but...

So...if people can't counterfeit the new bills, won't they just keep counterfeiting the old ones? It's not like the old designs expire/lose their monetary value or anything.

They can't color code it, lest the more nutty conservatives scream "EUROOOOOOOO!!!!!"

Yes. That's the price of doing business in a country filled with insane people.

I propose we color-code them based on Monopoly money.

I think they should use the same colour codes as the Canadian dollar because of the geographical proximity. And replace the $1 bill with a coin already. Well, they have the Presidential coins, but people usually don't use them.

I used to collect 1 dollar coins, I always found a coin dollar fascinating than a silly paper dollar in my opinion.

Sadly, I rarely see those around often and they aren't that much used around here either, and same goes with the (not sure if I can call it infamous) paper 2 dollar bill.

I think 1 place they went wrong was back when they introduced the Sacagawea dollar and advertised it as the "golden dollar". Apparently, some people thought the coins were made of actual gold and worth more than $1.00 each.

Also, withdrawing the paper dollar would help. Of course, it could backfire like with the half dollar* and we'd have to pay $4.75 with 19 quarters.

*The half dollar wasn't actually withdrawn, but they committed the double blunder of putting Kennedy on it immediately after his death (thus causing people to hoard it) and continuing to make it out of silver when the price of silver was skyrocketing and after other silver coins were switched to copper (thus also causing people to hoard it).

Normal people use paper/plastic almost exclusively, but I guess you're talking about the collector scene; a lot of banks these give people the option of rounding up to the nearest dollar for every purchase and depositing the difference to savings. Considering that some places even match the difference, it's a lot better than carrying around a load of change (do people still do that?).

I'm not a fan of the new bill designs. I understand the need for anti-counterfeiting measures, but call me old fashioned cause I like my old original plain bills.

(i know these are updated versions of the originals, but not changed as much as the latest ones)

The more they add to the bills the more it makes them look like funny money, or play money from the latest edition of Monopoly. I don't like the extravagantly colored money that most other countries have. Keep my bills green and simple.

Thanks

I don't care what money looks like. As long as I can use it to pay for worthless shit I don't need; I am good!

Either way, I have a direct deposit, so I always use my card for paying.

I don't really care much for usa currency, nowadays we all got cards anyways.

And for online shopping most people will use their credit cards these days, as long as the internet still exists of course.
