Read the book Hardball and write a five page paper explaining five quotes given to you from the book and how a set of political maxims apply to each quote. Augh! I don't know how I'm ever going to make it five pages...

Well, you do have five quotes to work with, and you have an intro and concluding paragraph to work with too. Five pages doesn't actually seem that difficult to reach considering you have that much information to work with...

Then again, I remember the days back in high school when I felt the same way about a five-page paper. I still don't know how I made my senior term paper 8 pages though, since it was mostly 8 pages of BS...

I fucking hated political science and related courses. I still do. I just don't really have the tolerance for debate and politics and whatever else governs it.

...and ironically, I'm an admin that's big on decision making. Fancy that.

Well, so far I've gotten 2 out of 5 pages done. I don't think it'll take too much longer. I think I'll be done by dinner. If not, I have nighttime to work. My parents are telling me that I need to finish it today and I haven't found out why yet...

My parents can have the dumbest rules sometimes...

Parents think up stupid shit, cause their parents did too, it is the chain of dumbassery.
Anyways, just get it done sometime today, then ask why it had to be finished today, I'd be kinda concerned if I where you.

Daily Cycle II ~ -2258
I fail to see how an explanaton of a quote can take up more than a paragraph. (And by that, how 5 can take up more than 2 pages at most.)

In fact, I fail to see the reasoning behind this absurd "page limit" requirement -- there is no reason at all to have a set page size.

Papers should be graded on how well they cover the given subject, not how long they are.

There used to be a software from Dilbert's Desktop Games that would be perfect for this.

Whenever I had an assignment in high school that just said "write n pages", I always tended to do it like this. Since they only specified the number of pages, and not things like indentation, line spacing, character spacing, etc, there was nothing saying I couldn't use a big font and double-space and margins and so on. Occasionally they specified it had to be single-spaced, but that was it. I wonder though if college teachers will be more strict with this.

That reminds me, in middle school one of my classmates handed in a 5-page paper in size 72 bolded Arial Black.

Needless to say, he totally failed.

FirePhoenix: Just remember, in a purely scholar paper, 90% is bullshitting for space, and 10% is actual content. Reiteration and paraphrasing is usually necessary for meeting the required length; in fact, a lot of teachers expect you to do that. Quantity over quality, I'm afraid.

Also, doublespace is your friend. It's perfectly legal, even in college

Yeah, you do need to be reasonable about it. And of course you can also do things like use longer words and phrases to pad it out.

Yeah well I got it done. There's plenty of bullshitting in it, double spacing and Arial size 12 for more room taken up. Nice to get it done though. Even nicer to get it done and go to Chipotle with my friend as a self-reward.

Which is quite sad if you ask me. The ability to explain something in short and comprehensive manner shouldn't be overlooked. A long text with that is merely made of filler material just looks good before reading. Trust me, repeating the same crap over and over doesn't make a text good (even if THEY want you to do it).

(I'm saying this, but whenever I had something to write in school, I'd end up with a ridiculous number of words, and ended up removing whole pages.)
