Sounds like fun, the news is just in time for the DVD/Blu-ray release:

So will the plot to this be just like The Little Mermaid since the first one was just like Pocahontas?

Don't get me wrong though, I LOVED Avatar and I can't wait for the sequel to come out! It would just be nice if the sequels weren't as TV tropish.

I had heard that Cameron was planning on Avatar 2 just days after the first one came out, but it is nice to have some details on it. I can understand how people compare it to Pocahontas and Fern Gully, its just the theme of new vs old, man vs machine. But the setting and detail are what make this movie spectacular. I can't wait for it to be released in 3D later this year or next year, and then to see Avatar 2 and 3 in 3D when they come out.

The cinema in the town I live in is still playing Avatar, and nope I haven't seen the first one, maybe I should get out of the house sometime to see it in action. And maybe after that, I can watch the new movie Avatar 2.

I don't really know how good they both are, though this thread is more focused on the second movie, but I will find the time to watch them both, even if I have to watch them another way.

Avater 6 takes place in a dystopian Disney sequel version of #1--errr...

My hope is the sequels are a bit more hard hitting and less fluff-genericish. Of course, this is probably complaining about shows I don't watch, but I never cared for the more fluffy movies...
