Butterflies and caterpillars are perfectly acceptable little creatures. Ladybugs too. And those cool metallic green flies that I can't remember the name of.

Bugs on the ground don't really bother me, but having them on my skin or near my face (and outside a cage) freaks me out.

I remember, when I was younger, I captured four caterpillars and put them in a jar with some leaves and a twig, leaving them by my bed. Whenever I'd look at them and see one too close to the lid, I hit the jar with the back of my finger (my nail) and it fell off. Well, one morning, I saw one on the glass near the top, so I hit the glass-- and wondered why the glass didn't feel so hard.

I looked at it again, and only half the caterpillar was still there.

Yes, it got outside and I squished it in two. Right after I realised that, I rubbed the other half off my finger in disgust, looked at the jar and saw that there were still some caterpillars missing and promptly emptied the jar outside. Since then, I never kept an insect again.


As for spiders, my parents mock me because I refuse to go in the bathroom if I see a spider on a wall near me (especially my dad, who grew up playing a lot outside and loves insects). These days, if there's a spider on the counter or in the bathtub, I take a long strip of toilet paper, wait for it to climb (or scare it) onto the strip, then take it fast to the toilet and flush.

I don't think they noticed. Yet.

EDIT- Oh, yeah, I also once found a spider in the bottom of a glass, right before I was about to pour a drink into it. Ever since, I've always checked if there's anything.

I used to freak out of there was a spider on the ceiling, and 1 of my parents had to kill it and even then I'd be wary of that room for a while.

Spiders hanging from threads still give me the creeps. As do daddy longlegs in general.

I didn't have a problem with spiders actially, I would always let out bugs if they wanted to leave, moths and spiders and all other bugs alike.

I left the lizard on the tire since it didn't need any air.

And its suppose to rain tomorrow, so I might be able to ride my bike anyway.

So I doubt the lizard will be there come Tuesday.

Back when I was in the 5th grade, there was a lizard that was on my bike. He stayed on my bike as I rode it to school, right on the handle-bars. When I got out of school, he was still there. But he was gone the next day.

Not really a fan, I tend to squish them when I see them on the ground. Mainly the creepy ones like cockroaches and stuff. Others I'll leave alone, such as grasshoppers or lady bugs.

Since it was included, I'll say I actually like lizards. They were everywhere in Puerto Rico. Even some as big as 8" long and 1" round. They were huge!

I guess the only kind of bugs I tried squishing are bugs that are just too tiny for me to save, basically if they are too small then they aren't easy to grab and let back outside.

I think lizards are pretty cool, actually. Also frogs, toads, and turtles. My parents have a pond in their backyard that is home to a lot of frogs.

I think I originally started to like frogs because they eat bugs and I don't like bugs

Frogs never really bothered me, speaking of which, I used to live in NC in 1996 when there were all sorts of animals like frogs and turtles and snakes in the backyard. Sad that there aren't any animals up here where I currently live, since I happen to be in Connecticut, for those that don't know.

I absolutely think iguanas are cute... my girlfriend used to have an iguana, but it died recently, and now she has a cat. My cat and her cat get along really well... it's so cute when they're both together. =3

Miles' post reminded me of when we lived in Minnesota. We were there for the Armyworm swarms. Literally millions of caterpillars swarm the trees and vegetation. They decimate whole forests of trees. When we would drive home, you could hear the popping and crunching of the worms trying to cross the street. It was pretty nasty.

Other insects. Maybe not all of them were eating them, but it still is a box full of moving things that qualifies as nightmare fuel.

There was also this fountain that was full of black-green caterpillars. As in, completely infested. There was one in the same area but far from that worked, you had to press a button to have the water come out. Here caterpillars were coming in and out instead.

A single of them might be cute. Maybe four or ten. Ten thousands aren't.

Most of the time, I can't even stand being near any bug. There are a few exceptions, but I can't tell myself to get near them enough to kill them.

Never really had a problem with lizards though.

I've only seen iguanas and stuff at zoos and museums, never outside.

Snakes, however... My dad insists on keeping a small snake in a glass aquarium as a pet. We've had it for quite a while now, and I still don't like getting too close to the glass.
