I still can't believe that this is the fourth to last Space Shuttle mission already... but I suppose 30 years is a good time to retire the Space Shuttle program anyway. =D

But still, why didn't they retire the Columbia after the Chandra launch? That probably would have been a better idea, especially considering there was that disaster in 2003...

I have always loved watching the shuttle launch. I lived in Florida for the first 8 years of my life and those are some of my most prevalent memories. I'm kind of torn between it being retired. On one hand, I can understand the need to move on as the technology is somewhat outdated. I mean, my laptop has more computing power than the space shuttle. That being said, with more technological power comes more room for errors. It just means that everything has to be that much more precise.

I think its funny that the design is going backwards in terms of the Constellation program, but a simple rocket is the most efficient way to get up there. At leas the internal components and crew vehicles are more advanced than the old rockets of the original space program.
