So I am sure we have bad habits. Share them!

- I have a bad habit of popping my jaw. It's pretty damn loud, and it all started when I thought it would sooth my Wisdom tooth. But it was actually making things worse over time. Oral surgeon told me to stop doing it as it could cause nerve damage, but I keep doing it on times when I am stressed out or if I am pissed off. Normally, it's rare.

- I have to spin things on my finger. It's hard to explain. I can spin books, trays, and any other flat object on my finger. Basketball? Can't do it.

- Right clicking madness! Some of my friends find this annoying. I have to right click on webpages repetitively while browsing the web. Hell I did this three times while making this post.

- Cursing. I have a fowl fucking mouth. Around ladies I's cut down. A lot.

- I have to save about six times before I know I have saved a game. Take Final Fantasy for example. I have three save spots each for the same damn file. I don't know why I do this but it just seems right.

- Embarrassing moment? It ruins my day. This happens during work. If I think of something stupid I have done in the past I feel disgusted. Usually I give off grunts and I try to think on how I rectify the situation. According to my old therapist (YEAH I WAS EMO WASN'T I HUR DUUURR) it happens to a lot of people.

- Possible OCD? I have to have things even. Life if my tounge touches the right side of my mouth. I have to touch the left side. If something is unbalanced, I have to balance it. Around me? My room is always a mess. I guess I am a rat who just has to have everything even.

- Can't sleep. I just have to do something. Usually this involves me writing a story in my head or thinking up jokes. This isn't exactly a bad habit. But it keeps me up at night. This is why I drink alcohol.

- I LOVE TO DRINK! Drinking is fun for people like me. And I don't like to totally get shitfaced. But hell, I know the repercussions of me getting drunk around sober people. And from me posting while drunk, I know a lot of people don't like it.

I don't have too many bad habits but anyway...

- Putting my elbow on the desk and either having my hand on the side of my face or cupping over my eyes. I do something like that when I'm sitting or laying down somewhere, like a couch.
- Looking closely at computer screens. I have good vision, but I sometimes have the need to look at text and such closely, especially if the text on-screen is smaller than the usual size. (16pt usually is fine, and so is Jul.) I think that I even do that when using zooming functionality in programs. It's weird.
- Procrastination. This is an absolute biggie for me. I'd say that it has almost cost me finishing my education.
- When going to bed, pressing the alarm buttons three times. For me, it's for verification, so then I know that my alarms are set right.
- When listening to music, I tend to pretend that I'm playing electric bass, guitar, drums, or whatever else.
- I talk out loud, especially when I'm by myself. It does help me focus a bit though.

- I dance down streets and everywhere I go, balancing compulsively on curbs and spinning around.
- I like to fling doors open and shut, while avoiding slamming them.
- Anything too close to my hands while I'm programming gets picked up and spun around and hurled everywhere.
- I compulsively hum songs I compose in my head as I go from place to place.
- When doing complex tasks or planning the day, I mumble to myself and speak out loud constantly.
- I compulsively rub the bottom of my nose with the top of my right hand, causing an annoying strumming noise and my rings to make clicking noises.
- I speak with extremely large, obtuse words, and talk over people constantly. Once started, there is no stopping me from speaking for hours on end, even as the sun begins to rise.
- I sleep for hours and hours on end, rarely getting under 7 hours, sometimes going up to 12 hours.
- I pick up objects, set them down somewhere else without noticing them, and 'lose' them this way.
- I sometimes speak sentences backwards--as in flipping the verb/subject or cause/effect for no reason.
- I also spontaneously break out into spoonerisms and rhymes sometimes.

This. My mom used to call it "Double Touch" when I'd touch a railing or something with my right hand and then reach over to do the same with my left hand as well afterward. My room is pretty messy, and Treeki likes to make fun of me for it

Other than that:
- I tend to stay up way late even if I have to get up early the next day.
- I sometimes explode (usually over AIM) and say things I regret later. I've tried to do this less of late. Actually, even last year wasn't nearly as bad in that regard as most of 2004, when most of my AIM convos were nothing but bitching and flaming
- Procrastination. If something's due Friday, I'll probably do about 1% of it on Wednesday or earier, 4% on Thursday, and the other 95% on Friday morning.
- I often have no idea that I insulted someone when I do. I may think I'm just being funny and the person suddenly gets all pissy at me.

-Procrastination: Ahh, I have an essay due next Wednesday? Hmm...I'll get it done on that Tuesday. Unfortunately I forget about it and do it before school starts. Strangely enough, do very well on the things I procrastinate on. I also procrastinate about other things: Lunch Money, Entry Forms.

-Double Scheduling: When you in as many things as I am, Scheduling becomes a hassle. I have at least 5 track meets on the same day as a Choir Concert or Jazz Band Performance. Chances are, because of my procrastination, I won't notice it until the day they happen.

-Slurping Food: Seriously, what's wrong with me enjoy my pasta the fun way?

-Making a Drumset out of anything: Half of the people who are around me thing I am a fool when I am tapping the floor like it's a bass pedal and hitting my finger on the desk like it's a snare drum. I think it must help me past time. Sometimes I switch using my fingers into using pencils.

Those are the ones I tend to notice, though I am sure I have a ton more.

I have a few bad habits of my own, not healthy habits either. For one, I take huge bites out of my meals and swallow big gulpful of food and I drink lots of water constantly like I only filled up my cup near empty, I get thirsty a lot and tend to get dehydrated very often and very fast so I always must keep myself constantly hydrated. I also tend to eat some foods that aren't right for me and my health, a fairly small slab is mozzarella cheese while it tastes so good its not healthy for me to be eating daily, I get one slab of it at least once a day so I really must cut back on the cheese before something bad does happen to me. Maybe I'll buy a carton of strawberries tomorrow on my way to work, at least those are healthy and tasty at the same time, though they are kind of sugary too but I'm not too concerned about the sugar contents since sugar doesn't bother me much really.

It's actually a good thing to save redundantly if you're not using the other slots. It's not unheard of for a bug to wipe out a slot or two. When I can, I like to save in every slot, incrementing, so if a game has 3 slots then I have my most recent save plus the two before. That way if I manage to get myself stuck somewhere I can go back to an older save.
Of course, this works best when the slots are dated... otherwise you risk loading an older save by accident.

@MilesHayashi: that's not bad, really. Cheese isn't that bad for you, lots of water is definitely good, and you really shouldn't worry about the sugar content of fruits. Fruit is good, as long as you're not adding a bunch of crap to it.
Me on the other hand, I must stop drinking so much pop before it gives me a heart attack, but fuck that stuff is addictive. D:

My bad habits are pretty standard: picking my nose, sleeping in and hitting the snooze button 47 times, general laziness, cola addiction, cussing a little too often (though much less than I used to), etc. Then I have some strange (not really bad) ones:
  • I always like to be able to see my monitor from my bed, even if it's off.

  • Shaking my head, cracking my toes, etc for no real reason.

  • Double-tapping Control to kill the screen saver and/or turn the screen back on. It's a good method since it won't accidentally activate anything, but for me it's always a double-tap, and I find myself doing it before turning the machine on, just out of habit.

  • Bathroom door must be closed at all times!

I used to drink a lot of pop and other soft drinks, but I cut off my pop supply completely at the end of 2005 and haven't drinked another soft drink ever since and I feel much better for doing so.

And yeah you're right HyperHacker that I shouldn't worry too much about the sugar contents, I'll carry on with the sweets.

One other habit I have obviously picking my nose and at my finger and toe nails like most other people and I'm more recently developing a habit of wearing my 'Baker Boy Cap' to most places I go to and I think I'll wear my cap to work every day this week which my boss didn't seem to mind since I'm working for a family owned business in the middle of town anyways, plus my boss owns 2 computer shops in 2 different towns.

I drank a lot of pop until I was told to stop by my doctor (it wasn't playing nicely with 1 of my medicines). Now I rarely drink it and still have 3-month-old pop bottles sitting on my fridge

I tend to chew on things like pens. It was much worse when I was a kid, to the point at which my teacher put duct tape at the end of my pencils. Eventually I became terrified of lead poisoning, not knowing that pencils had graphite in them.

1- I used to have this problem. That was until I got a job and started working out. Might I suggest Centrum tablets before bed? It's basically vitamins and will help unlock your energy from lack of sleep. Take a pill before bed, sleep for 8 hours and Get the fuck up. No seriously, I know it hurts, but get up. Walk around if you have to, and just get online / work out / do random chores. Eventually your body will train itself to get 8 hours of sleep. Will also give your more energy for your buck.

2- This isn't a problem. I do this all the time. Like I usually sing rhymes when I am playing videogames.

"Oh you son of a biiiiitttchhhh *High pitch* I will make you suck my diiiiiiiiiiccckkkkk*High pitch*"

I really need to make a video out of this or something. But I am sure you know what I mean.

- Always hitting Ctrl-C (or ⌘C) repeatedly, thinking that it didn't copy the first time
- Wasting my cell phone minutes talking to people for hours a day
- Twilight... at least until recently... =/
- Cursing or otherwise “exploding”... but not as often anymore
- Fingernail biting... this was more when I was a teenager, not now
- Diet soft drinks... although I'm trying to cut back on them, mainly going for stuff like SoBe LifeWaters and the like instead (I never liked regular anyway)

I used to hit the '\' key a lot on usa keyboards, so for my ASUS notebook I purchased and imported the British keyboard layout and having the upsidedown L shaped enter key is so much easier for me as well as with typing the '\' next to the 'left shift' and 'z' key, I love this British keyboard a lot and I'm not ever gonna switch back, so much easier for me to type this way.

Opposite for me; I hate the big Enter keys. Especially when they also have a small backspace.

I'm quite the opposite... I grew up with the bar-shaped Return, then bought a third-party wireless Mac keyboard which had the upside-down L for Return, and I kept hitting \, expecting Return... =/

I'm not too fond of those big chunky enter keys myself, which is why I got the british keyboard with only a vertical enter key which is very slightly an upsidedown 'L', I always hated having '\' above the enter key though and of course the '#' key has its own spot which makes it much more convenient to type without having to hold down any shift key.

I still prefer the keyboard our old Packard Bell had. The Backspace and Enter keys were both big, with \ being on the bottom row of the keyboard next to the right Control key. Damn Windows/Menu keys (which I don't use anyway) for disallowing that arrangement

I find the windows/menu key to be utterly useless too since I can just ctrl+esc into the start menu and I wish those keys could be reassignable/mapped to a different key, unless someone here knows of a programme that can remap those keys to a different key like a letter or symbol, would love to remap the right-click menu key especially.

A while back, Schala gave me a .reg file that remaps Menu to the 102nd key found on European keyboards so that I could switch to a custom layout that needed that key. I don't have the file anymore as I no longer use that layout (I'm on the International variant of the US layout on this computer), but maybe she still has it if you want it.

I have my locale and keyboard keymap set to United Kingdom Extended instead of the default United Kingdom layout so I can type up the umlaut and other symbols I normally wouldn't be able to type.

But aside from keyboard differences, I do have the habit of making typos a lot when I am forced to use the usa keyboard layout at my job, of course I could take my desktop british keyboard to work (another keyboard I imported 2 years before) but one of the techs there doesn't like the british layout I'm accustomed to.

It has useful shortcuts in Windows such as W+R and W+E, and in Linux I mapped it to all sorts of useful window management shortcuts. So I like it. (But I'd rather it have a penguin or something... )
