I really wish I had something better than onboard graphics so I could watch this on my computer instead of Youtube. Either way, the things people are able to do with procedural generation these days is seriously astounding.

I actually got the 1024x768 version to run on my laptop at a decent framerate (then again, I have a dedicated Radeon HD 3650 GPU). The whole "OMGWTF 4,096 bytes?!" thing doesn't really hit you until you've seen it for yourself. Holy crap.

You could fit TEN COPIES of this demo into the space occupied by a Super Mario Bros. ROM!

True. Check out my awesome one-byte game:AJust run that through a custom interpreter...

This sort of thing is pretty awesome though. (I haven't actually run the demo, but I've seen some impressive things crammed into some impressive filesizes...)

If you guys liked that one, there are a bunch of new 4k demos that just came out today at Breakpoint 2010 (look under the "pc 4k" section)

Only one of them has a video recording available so far, so you'll need a decent graphics card to watch any of these (which I still lack ) They all look pretty impressive from the screenshots though.

Yeah, of all the 4k ones, only retrospection (the first on the list) actuallyt runs, the others either don't start or crash a couple seconds in

I had the same problem until I put d3dx9_33.dll in the same folder as the executable. It does take a while to start, too (nearly a minute on my laptop), so don't panic if it gets "stuck" on a black screen.

You may have to upgrade your video card.

Also good demos to watch include Chaos Theory and 1995. These two pop in my head, especially Chaos Theory.
