This is not an april fools joke

Wow, seeing as the last major release was in September 2008, it's really nice that this update's been released. 0.31.01 added a richer world generation, and a completely revamped nobles system, as well as a whole host of updates, with the major ones being that the game now tracks units in excruciating detail, down to every layer from skin to muscle to bone, the revamped military system which goes much, much farther into depth, and as a must for any new fortress, hopsitals.

This release is definitely going to be worth it, even though it'll probably be superceded quickly by the 40d# versions merge and bug fixes. The website got a really nice overhaul as well, though right now it's about as stable as a house of cards :/

For a download, go to http://bay12games.com/dwarves/. If the site is down, try again later.

Goddamn, this game is so hardcore. Just reading about it makes me feel like... well, like a casual.

Got this yesterday, and it's pretty fun. It's hard to believe this was just 2 people that made this.

Although when getting an area, never get an area with an aquifer, like I did at first. Makes it really hard to do stuff.

The finder is entirely blown out in this version. You don't need it anyways though, because *Every* site has *every* mineral and feature. And, it's just one guy who made this

As with every new DF major release, there are some hilarious bugs. In this one, the most remembered bug will have to be that the rain melts skin right off a person

It rained several times for me and I never had that issue.

Of course I wasn't really paying attention since I was digging straight down to the new cave systems. And the hidden fun stuff.

Oh god the hidden fun stuff.

Hm. Seems this release also continues DF's tradition of perversion.

I tried playing this game in the past and it ran poorly. Is it running a lot better? I fail to get the site running as of right now.

DF is a beast of a game, and it *always* runs slowly. Your best bet is to grab the download, then Grab This, that should help your frame rate.

If the site is down for you still, let me know and I'll send you a prepackaged binary with DF accelerator. There should be some major speed optimizations relatively soon, once the 40d# branch gets merged into main.
