I just got done with the Kanto Power Plant thing, now to take on Misty. Already gotten Lt. Surge, Sabrina, Erika and Janine down for the count and I am anxious to get the GB Player. Team is doing fine at this point.

But they get closer! Only 2 more levels to go for Pay Day.

Abra can learn Shadow Ball, which makes it actually able to attack and really whoop some ass. Gained 7 levels in about an hour. I'd like to have everyone up to 40 before the next gym though, which is another 23 for him... oh boy. At least I can finally surf away from these 3 routes full of cheap bastards. (And to one with even cheaper bastards, I'm sure...)

Why not just train with water pokemon+good rod? That is what I do, and I avoid the cheap bastards. (Though I do get the occasional magikarp.)

Just how I beat crystal a few days ago...

Chikorita survived the last Dragonite's hyperbeam with barely 8 HP, and killed it with a critical solarbeam.

It was awesome too, there even was a turn of absolutely nothing happening as both pokemon were charging energy.

(Also I wanted to get the game yesterday but I happen to actually have no money)

You could pull it off in Red/Blue pretty easily by abusing type advantage, but I think it'll be harder in this game.

Also, is it just me, or is Pokemon one of the few series that gets more difficult as the games progress? RBY was basically just abusing type advantage, and you could cruise through that game without any grinding at all.

It's not just you. Platinum has the highest-levelled E4 fight. and then theres' the second time you fight them

HG/SS has even harder fights later too.

Picked my copy of heart gold up today! :3

I must say, they clearly improved the battle speed of things, making it playable.

As of now, I just got my first badge and on my way to the south.

Team:

Quilava level 14.

Sentret level 13.

Mareep level 8. (I did put this one on my pokewalker for now as it only got a physical move and it's phy power sucks.

Hoppip level 8. Like Mareep I did just pick this one up, so it's quite low level. (And no attack that deals damage, what the crap?)

These four are going to be my team as, well, I'm not a big fan of big teams and this is already quite big for my style. (1-2)

My biggest grip so far is that the remixes are not that good. Sure, they are not bad by any means but they just don't hold up to the original or quite a big number of fan remixes, IMO.

Edit: I also would have loved if they redid the intro from the original, just something neat that would have been cool!
