Well, we needed one anyway! ^^

A year and a half ago or so I wanted to pick up magic and play and such. Which was quite easy, but really soon I ran into a kind of roadblock: I had no one to play with.

So now, after a year or so of gathering nothing but dust, I pick them up again as I got a mate of mine to start playing.

So I was thinking people might want to talk about the card game here and such, as I know I'm not the only one playing it.


Now, do keep in mind, I only play for fun rather then tournaments and such, the same goes for my deck building.


But damn do I like the combo of cards I have. I'm running a red/white token deck, so to speak, where the main focus is to get out tokens and over run people.
The cards I use are mainly from eventide, tenth edition and shadowmor.

The first card in my gay combination is this one:

Endless Horizons, while I don't "need it" it will help greatly!

Then follow up with Martial Coup, that not only will clean the table, it will give me quite the number of tokens. However, this spell might be blocked, so I also have Rise of the Hobgoblins in my deck to give me another way to get many tokens. Now, 1/1 tokens are not that much of a big deal, sure they can get first strike, but that's hardly much. So I also have this card, Balefire Liege, which boost the tokens */* up to 3/3 if used with Rise of the Hobgoblins and 2/2 if used with Martial Coup.

I also have other cards in the deck to deal with stuff before hand, Unmake for example, and I even have one copy of the infamous Path of Exile.

Anyhow, feel free to share your magic TG experiences and such. (I can give a full deck list later once the deck is done.)

One of my decks has Underworld Dreams, Megrim, and tons of Red draw and discard. Am I a bad person?

Then again, I build really gay decks, so, this was expected among my friends, I think. Oh, I also run creature-less R/U 'Owling Mine. Hurp a durp.

I play Type-2, so my deck is blue-white-black mill, with three engines.

Hedron Crab! "I play a land. Top three cards of your deck into your library, plz."

Archive Trap + Path to Exile! "Yeah, remove that from the game. Fetch a land if you want. Whoops! Two archive traps for free! Top 26, thx."

Nemesis of Reason!
"I swing. Top ten cards of your library into your graveyard. Bye!"

...yeah, I get my ass kicked a lot by fast decks, but when it works? ooooh.

Really considering putting Rith the Awakener into my saprolings deck and cutting out Scion of the Wild to do so. Already abusing Ashnod's Altar and Fireball for a sudden kill; "I'mma sacrifice 200 Saprolings, tap for a red, Fireball you for 400. Good game." Rith would really get that creature ramp rolling.

I play magic sometimes still. I was much more into it a few years ago but I've never been super serious.

My decks have a wide range of effectiveness because I play with players of a wide range of skill. So I've got some serious RDW and control decks for the top tier, some joke combo decks (e.g. Iridescent Drake + False Demise + Blasting Station) and the least effective Tinker deck ever made for the mid tier, and burn, green weenie, and Hunting Pack for the low tier, just to name a few.

At this point I'm much more interested in the design perspective, so I've been using MSE to design sets, writing down the finished designs on index cards, and playing against my friends. It's pretty amazing. If I ever feel any of it is worth playing over a significant length of time, I'll probably print out the cards for real and sleeve them.

The random magic card generator is a wonderful source of ideas, and also laughs.

The deck I built that could technically win on Turn 3 (I think) was built around Griffin Canyon. That's right.

I also have a hilarious deck built on Illusions of Grandeur/Donate/Flicker. Disenchant works as well as Flicker, but Flicker is funnier, because I gain another 20 life as a slap in the face.

I have another like 10 decks that I used to love... One with Sneak Attack and a ton of ridiculous creatures, one quick red burn, and some I forget about. I should look through them when I get home from work...

Oh, I also had a proxy deck that I never actually built that revolved around 0-mana artifacts, Hurkyl's Recall, and Brain Freeze. (Also, I'm amazed they reprinted Hurkyl's Recall!)

There is also a card in which Artifacts can not be targetted. So if you want to protect Platinum Angel that badly, then use that card.

Forgot what card it is though.
