Because when the people in #Standards, #HTML and #CSS are confused as to why something is not working, you know something is wrong.

I couldn't figure out what was wrong with my layout in IE (it was a bajillion pixels wide and tall for some reason.) So I had to set up a conditional so that it doesn't render in IE at all and you get a regular postbit.

And that's why they call it Microsoft Internet Exploder.

I last used IE as my primary browser in 2004. In fact, on my old laptop IE didn't even work.

Anyone ever seen these? =)

There's some classics on there... namely the "Microsoft Internet Crasher" and "Monopo$oft Internet Exploiter". =P

Microsoft shouldn't even bother spending effort in that.

It would probably cost them less to buy out another browser.

I prefer to pretend it doesn't exist, and cackle evilly at anyone who gets blammed with bad rendering from my stuff when they use IE.

My layout code has been hidden from IE for ages because it just would not render it properly and I didn't feel like trying to fix it. IE really needs to just vanish off the face of the Internet already. (Wait, does the Internet have a face?)

#50
Internet Explorer, the best at preventing web development since 2001
- 5 years late (if not more) at supporting alpha PNG transparency
- Currently the only one not supporting rounded borders at all (until Internet Explorer 9 comes out)
- Also the only one still failing Acid3 hard (20/100, really?)
- Slowest for JavaScript and such, by far (and you thought Firefox was bad compared to Opera ...)
- Still has various problems rendering stuff every other browser handles fine

Yeah, it's no wonder its usage share is really dropping (58% now, I think), and I can't wait until that gets below 50% In fact, the only thing holding that from happening is Internet Explorer 6 at over 20% still, kept alive by Windows XP's extended support and businesses not upgrading (most people using 7 upgraded to 8 or switched)

Internet Explorer 9 looks like it'll be a good improvement at least, but still has a long way to go just to match the rest ...

Internet Explorer? This thing you speak of does not exist on my computer. I ninja'd it off my drive since '02.

this is completely off topic but:
I FUCKING LOVE YOUR LAYOUT IT IS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT HOLY FUCK

Also I only ever use IE when forced to (read: hi there New York Public Library).
At least the NYPL computers have IE7 on them, unlike the Queens "Jul Auto-IP-Ban" Library which uses IE6.

Not a fan of IE but it's the fastest browers on this lappy at work. Of course these lappys are awful.

I use IE6 at work and have IE8 on my home laptop. At work, we use some web programs that only work on IE6. At home, I have IE8 because its installed on Win7 by default... But at both places I use Chrome. Its 10x faster and displays web pages correctly if they have proper web coding. Most mainstream pages like Yahoo, MSN, etc are fine for any browser. But other pages like here or newer pages don't look like they were intended to.

On rare occasions, I have to switch to IE8 if something in Flash is not working correctly like facebook games or something.

Because it works well enough for my purposes, and that's all that matters.

I use IE at work.

Because all of our clients are realtors who use IE, thus we have to support it

I use IE at work since nothing else is on the PC's.

Don't worry, they make up for it by having great anti-virus protection. It's great that the scanner runs 3-4 times a day, bogging down the PC in the process.
