Originally posted by paulguy I don't think it's the mouse, you might just have mad jittery hands (this can be easily tested by comparing your hands to an electric toothbrush--or I guess you could try a writing sample at different sensitivities), and even then the g5 series has sensitivity controls on the mouse, so I'm not sure what's the problem. Insane mouse speed is a nerd bragging point, yes, but you might want to tone it down a bit for maximal precision (and work your way up if you really are attached to your high-speed forays into headshots, MS PAINT and whatnot). If the problem really is with your mouse, then call up customer support, they're pretty good with this sort of thing. But that's not fun at all.

). That was okay though, because we already had a new computer that came with a new mouse (or we got it shortly after, I forgot). Still a standard Compaq mouse (unfortunately there were no USB ports on the keyboard, so the mouse was a little restricted
Eventually when the batteries died I took the other mouse completely apart and cleaned it, and it worked from then on, but the software of the optical mouse messed with the scrolling so it didn't work very well, so I switched back. I later got a "Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000" (hmm... maybe the other one was 2000?) for my laptop. Even though the range was only three feet, it worked much better
). Now I have a new wired Dell optical mouse that came with a new computer. I don't have to clean it or replace batteries, but... if I click the right mouse button (as in "right click") in the wrong spot, it "squeaks".
