Do you get nervous when you have to do a job interview? Which type do you think is better: over the phone or in person? Or are they both equally nerve racking?

I say being in person is more nerve racking. However, I would always take it in person rather then over the phone. (Unless they really don't want you there.) As it shows that you care for the job more and such. And improved chances of getting hired is ++!

As Midori said, in person can definitely be tougher since you are looking at the person asking you questions. Over the phone, they don't see your posture or physical reactions to certain questions. As for which one is better, I would say if you want to get the job then in person is a must. Over the phone is like testing the waters to see if you are even eligible for an "in person" interview.

I hate interviews.

Then again, I think the government should just give all unemployed people jobs. Maybe picking up trash off the highways or something equally unskilled.

Both of the jobs I had, I got with no interview (the hirer knew me already). None of the interviews I've done have landed me a job (although 1 came close, but they needed someone with a car).

I'd probably prefer a phone interview as I wouldn't have to go there in person and they couldn't judge me by my appearance.

Yes. No matter what I always get nervous for job interviews. The only phone interview I had was to see if I was eligible for an in person interview. Once I actually get to the interview though, I'm not nearly as nervous as I was during all of that time waiting. I usually use that time asking myself a bunch of questions that I think they'll ask, and answering them to myself, so it will be less likely that I fuck up on something stupid at the actual interview. I especially ask myself questions that I really hope don't come up just to be prepared for all outcomes. I've only had two interviews, but I've gotten both jobs. You'll be fine, nervousness sucks, but is natural.

I've only had one, and I never got called back.

I think I did everything right, came dressed in a polo and nice jeans, gave precise answers, made eye contact (which is a very tough thing for me to do with most people without getting nervous, and thus won't really look at most people virtually at all).

And the guy who gave me the application in the first place even said he was leaving in three weeks, so...

I had to do a phone interview this morning because the hiring manager was in another state opening up a store. It went well and I tried to not sound nervous.

Never done a phone interview, and I hate talking on phones.

But I'm more nervous about applying than the interview, strangely.

I love interviews.

I remember doing my interviews at the OG and all three of them had me very outgoing to all three managers there. They hired me on the spot.

The third manager, the biggest one there, asked me "So are there any questions"?

I said: "When do I start"? I like to show confidence in my actions whenever I am being interviewed. Stuttering aside, I never let that get to me.

Disney World's interview consisted of a phone interview and a bit of roleplaying. And funny thing was, I was both characters (Child / concerned parent, and me). Basically he was such in awe about this that his manager picked up the line and said "Expect your package to come in the mail within the next week. Welcome to Disney".

There has not been one interview I have been turned down from yet.

I prefer going to interviews face-to-face, though I've still only ever managed to score 1 decent job. And then two weeks in their head office got flooded and they lost a shit-ton of information and money, and a lot of nonessential staff, myself included, got dropped.
