BrainPort consists of a pair of video camera-equipped sunglasses that are themselves attached to a "lollipop" that's placed in the mouth. Whatever is captured by the camera is converted into electrical pulses that are sent to the tongue. The brain then processes those those pulses as pixelated images.


Mind if I say "in b4 mind video games?" Actually, as awesome as that idea would you be, you'd probably end up with a serious case of numb tongue that way...

I heard of this a while ago. It is amazing if you think about it. Sticking this thing in your mouth for the first time is like growing your first set of eyes - the brain suddenly starts receiving this input, and goes to work with its pattern processing figuring out what it is. Doesn't matter where it came from. So even at his age the brain can learn to decode information from an entirely new body part.
