My mouse keeps doing this thing where it double clicks when I only click once, or lets go when I'm holding the button down. It's making everything extremely difficult. It's especially frustrating in Photoshop.

Why is it doing this now?! I just put new batteries in the thing!?!?! How could that have damaged it?!!?!?!???!?!?!?!

I hate this stupid piece of crap mouse. Logitech LX-6, which has always worked just fine until recently. This seems to be a running theme though, ... when Logitech products fail, they fail in strange ways, I had a dual precision gamepad that died and the analog sticks would randomly screw up and get stuck reporting the wrong direction, or buttons would be reported as being held down when they weren't.

Open it up, make sure the connections between the plastic buttons and the rubber click mechanisms are still touching. Sometimes dust or dirt will cause it to misfire, or plastic/rubber wears down and the connection from the click to the sensor gets screwy.

If all else fails, buy a new one!

Oh God, this just happened to me a week ago... My Wireless Logitech Mouse won't click correctly, which makes double clicking extremly difficult. I had to replace it with a older, smaller mouse with a unusually small wire, which has to plug into the front of my computer. Not only that, but it can't shut it's power off.

I've had no trouble with this Logitech mouse.

My most recent couple of mice:
Microsoft - didn't have the usual rubber-ish things to allow the cord to bend easily near the plug, so eventually it split open and the mouse kept conking out because of what I assume to be poor connection to the computer.
Dynex - Got wet and failed almost immediately.

My brother actually started getting those troubles with his mouse. We figured it was because of the connection, because it would occasionally just end the click and start a new one right away. That led to me creating three copies of the same folder in other random folders.

Same exact mouse, too, I think.

Shadic, I had that same exact mouse you just bought and had the same problem with it. I then bought a Logitech to replace it. Worked fine for a while, but now the Logitech is acting up too!

My Logitech mouse is pretty good most of the time, but it sometimes goes up to the top-left corner of the screen randomly. =/

Before that, I had a wireless keyboard and mouse on my Mac, and it would always give a false low battery warning for some reason...

The scroll wheel on my Logitech Trackman wheel finally started to go nuts--not registering at all.

No problem, I dislodged the broken 'clicky' part with tweezers and it works now.

Oh I got some life out of it, about 2 and a half years I think, but then it got unbearable and I had to replace it. Hopefully you'll have better luck than me.

Paulguy's Post configuration
I have a Logitech G5 and it works _ok_, but if I'm trying to be precise, I get all kinds of 2-3px jittering. It's alleviated a bit when I turn down the sensitivity, but I hate having to interrupt what I'm doing to turn it down, only to have to turn it back up again a few seconds later. I've tried just on the desk (this was worse, there were kinda odd "dead zones" on the desk where the pointer wouldn't move at all) and on a blue mousepad I have, which should have enough texture on it from the fact that it's cloth; this is the one I have it on, now.

My previous mice were mostly annoying. I had a Kensington optical mouse that usually worked OK, but would often try to go to the corners randomly and get stuck. Before that was all ball mice that all died from getting shit stuck in them and me not having a screwdriver to open them up to fix them.
