I too had Gold when I was a kid, also Totodile for the fucking WIN.

Crazy story here, in my first play through, the Ho-oh was shiny but I didn't know it, I thought the shiny effect was fire and it only happened for it because it was the über bird of that game! It goes without saying that I was furious when I got back up to Ho-oh when I played through my second time!

I'm looking forward to getting SoulSilver. I've played the first generation pokémon games and skipped the second and third generation and went straight to the fourth, so seeing as how much I enjoyed LeafGreen and the Diamond/Pearl/Platinum games, I'm gonna pick up a copy of SoulSilver and will add HeartGold later on when I have finished SoulSilver.

I'm considering Silver, but are they even any good? I haven't enjoyed any Pokémon games since the original G/S. Even being recreations of those, I can imagine them having a lot of the same problems, thanks to the engine itself.
