So I have an asus p6t motherboard with 3 ram modules in triple channel. Through testing, I've found that one slot died, so I can only use 2 modules. So, I need a new motherboard that takes an intel core i7 920 and DDR-1600 memory. I also need a pci slot and a pci express x16 slot and coaxial spdif. Nothing else special really.

This almost matches It's a deluxe version of the motherboard you specified and had everything but DDR-1600. Otherwise I would obtain the exact same model you have right now.

Well, I technically have DDR3-1066 right now, but when I thought I had bad RAM, I bought some more, some DDR3-1600. So I'd rather the new RAM not go to waste and have to run below spec.

ASUS P6X58D a bit pricey I know, but it has everything you specified. PCIe 2.0 x16 is backwards compatible with regular PCIe x16 cards. Can use DDR3 1600 and 1066, has 2 PCI slots and coax SPDIF out.

EVGA 141-BL-E757-TR little bit cheaper but only takes DDR3 1600 ram.

Open box ASUS P6X58D lower price of the better board, but open box. Usually nothing wrong, but you take a slight risk. They do allow refunds if something is wrong though.

You sure it's the slot an not one of your memory modules? Can't you just RMA your motherboard/RAM?

Yeah, I ran a memory test on all the modules in the slots that I assume are working and the errors went away. Also, it's looooong past the return period.

Orlandu, I'll look in to those, thanks.

Would be nice if I could mix the 1600 and 1066 RAM and run each module at their individual speed, but I know that's entirely impossible. :p I don't need that much RAM anyway.

EDIT: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188051 This one is cheaper than the other 2 and is cheaper, without being excessively cheap-o, generico brand.

EDIT2: I'm still not sure if I should get that one or the Open Box Asus one. I'm worried about the Open Box one being DOA.

I ended up just getting it new. I don't want to deal with swapping shit out then finding out stuff isn't working then swapping it again, then waiting for a working one... pain in the ass.

Thanks for the advice... I've not shopped for motherboards too much since I've only made 2 machines in my life, and stuff has changed quite a bit. :p
