Yeah, really. I can see it in some jobs (esp. the financial sector), but ffs not everybody needs to be checked to be *employable*

Don't they realize that some people might have bad credit because they're unemployed and thus can't pay their bills?

It's like with apartments. Some places won't rent to you if you have no job. Well, what if you're moving right out of college, or are moving to another city to get a job because there are few or none where you come from, etc.? And then employers want you to have a local address and phone number, creating a Catch-22.

Ridiculous how they'd do a credit check just to get a job at a place like Kmart or a supermarket... although some jobs probably would be more suited to retain credit checks, like financial companies, etc.
