Managed to grab the PC version and will probably give the DS version a try soon. I'm very impressed by the PC version so far, thought it has a few shortcomings... No Joystick (Which is actually overcome by a little app called JoytoKey) and no online play. (It has multiplayer for up to 4 players, so I guess that makes up for it... ) Besides that, it feels like a well rounded racer.

My favorite course so far has to be Dark Armory simply because it plays very well. (I think my record on it is 1:11:??) My biggest gripe would be the Super Monkey Ball courses... They suffer from sharpturn-itis and generally just suck in my opinion.

As for my favorite character, I think I'll stick with Dr. Eggman. The good doctor may be slow, but if you can drift right, he's probably the fastest guy on the track.

I tried out the demo on 360 and I really enjoyed it.

I want to grab the DS version when I can find and eventually rent it on 360.

Yeah, I played the PC version and it's plenty of fun. No online play, though, which means I'll be waiting for GameFly to deliver my rental of the PS3 version.

Also, apparently the PC version supports Xbox360 controllers.

Actually, it has joystick support, but only through xinput. In other words, set this up, and enjoy.

This game is fun as hell. It's like Mario Kart, but it controls (in particular, the drifting) a lot like OutRun 2006 (although slightly better), which was made (or just ported?) by the same people.

It supports XB360 controllers on PC.

Anyway, I've got it for PS3, and it's fucking awesome. There's a variety of control settings; I use the one that plays like Mario Kart (L for items, R for tricks, X for gas, etc), since that's what I'm most comfortable with.

The drift system is fairly simple; you just hold down the drift button and stay clear of obstacles. There's three boost levels, which are attained by holding the drift for long enough; with a level 3 boost you can blast enemies and stage hazards out of the way.

It's tons of fun, really.
