Some of us are coming up to spring break. But have you noticed that a lot of schools have "spring break" when the calendar is still in winter? Here it's March 8-12.

My school even does it with semesters. Spring semester here started this year on January the 11th. Summer semester usually starts in mid-May. Fall semester starts in August. There is no winter semester, although a lot of other schools have it instead of spring semester.

Does your school do stuff like that? Or, in general, things in life that are similarly misnamed. Aren't some Oktoberfest celebrations held in September?

I seem to recall spring breaks in Buffalo being in April in some years, moving around with the date of Easter. We also got 2 weeks off there, which was definitely nice

In high school, the Xmas/New Year's break tended to be just a few weeks before midterms. Happy New Year, time to cram like crazy! Midterms were 20% of the semester grade, and I don't remember what happened if you were absent.

I'll be visiting my mom for a couple of days during spring break.

As in, just my mom. No dad. w00t.

I rarely do much exciting stuff for spring break. Once when I was in elementary school, my parents and I went to Virginia on a camping trip then.

My spring break was always around the same time in April for a while, then it moved to March when I started college. President's Day varied for me, since in some districts I only had the day itself off, but in others, I had the whole week. =/

Our Spring Break starts soon, and it's actually fairly Spring-ish already, which is unusual for a place so far North that Winter usually lasts from early October to late April. I guess we get to enjoy a couple years of warmer weather thanks to Global Warming Climate Change before it goes too far and kills us all.

March Break (or rather Study Week) starts officially on March 15th.

Pretty much everyone in my class are starting their workterms the week after on the 22nd. Except for me, of course. I agreed to start my workterm a week early, so I won't have a week to settle down.

BUT. I get paid for that week! I'm not sure how much, but I'm getting paid. And also within the next little while I'll be getting paid for this quarter for a website that I take care of.
