Tell her not to be a fun killer about it then. D:

I was going to say, wonky physics, but in a very original and good way.

The concept of the Pokeball in it's entirety, for one. Though things don't quite stop there, let me bring out my favorite example, Regice.

Now, according to Pokedex, its body temperature is -328 °F. Now bear in mind that this temperature is a mere 131.67 degrees away from absolute zero, meaning anything it touched or even went NEAR would experience superfluidity or superconductivity. Not to mention uh...you know, frostbite from delivering physical attacks on it. It is claimed research on its body determined that it was made of ice from the south pole. Funny, because the lowest temperature recorded there was around -128.6 °F, and if its body is as cold as they say how would they have even gotten near it enough to be able to analyze its ice...or for that matter, how is it even possible to determine the location of ice, outside of melting it and comparing water samples, and with its body at a constant -328 degrees, unless you somehow killed the thing I don't think you're going to melt it any time soon, especially if that's how its body reaches equilibrium.

Speaking of temperatures, Slugma has magma flowing through its veins, yet some how doesn't experience third degree burns on its eyes, toung, and other tissue-based parts. Numel and Camerupt also have magma in their backs, meaning they must have one heavy-duty dermis. More unsettling is the fact that Magcargo's body temperature is claimed to be 18,000 degrees Fahrenheit, while the surface of the sun is 11,000. Do the math.

Pokemon evolution is another thing that doesn't need much explanation...radiation emited from items or the device to trade Pokemon causing genetic mutations ("evolution") is just...well, more than a bit far-fetched. Not to mention more realistically the Pokemon would experience some sort of in between stage while growing from one form to the other (this was at one point attempted to be lampshaded in official media by them stating that all the potential energy from this growth is stored in the body and released all at once during evolution, hence the bright flashes involved. I believe Wartortle was the example given though this was ages ago so I might be mistaken)

Porygon is sentient programming code. It can feel, experience emotions, even consume food for nourishment. Its body is "made entirely of programming code"...now I don't know if Japan is keeping something from us but last I checked it was pretty much impossible to materialize an API. Not to mention they can be modded at will, as there are both official and unofficial mods for this Pokemon. Not unsettling in the least...

Tying in to the technology thing, TMs and HMs....do I even need to touch this? Programming code that can be infused from a CD in to a creature's brain to teach it new techniques? There's no explaining this, especially as that's exactly how they are depicted to work. Its clever, yet...clearly physically impossible.

Sableye's diet consists entirely of precious gems. As a result of this, its eyes and various parts of its body have crystalized and become gem-stone like themself. Let's just totally disregard the fact that rocks have absolutely no nutritional value what so ever (Though if you really want to touch that, I believe it was Aron who is said to destroy a dump truck by tackling it until it is broken down and EATING IT AS A MEAL. Um....what)

Similarly, Drowzee can eat dreams for nourishment, and if it likes its trainer will give them a good dream it ate. I'm pretty sure brain waves had no nutritional value last I checked.

Spoink will die if it ever stops bouncing. I suppose one could say its body has absolutely no circulation and it must constantly bounce in order to keep its heart going (in fact, I believe one of the Pokedexes specifically addresses it as it having to keep its heart going, though I may be mistaken) but still....

Grimer was formed from toxic sludge being exposed to x-rays from the moon. Yeah. X-RAYS. From the MOON. In Pokemon, the moon is radioactive. Which would explain far too many things, really... that being said, I wasn't aware radioactivity could allow for sentient behavior in semi-organic material.

On the subject of mutations, Deoxys is somehow a mutated space virus. Even if space in the Pokemon world IS full of radioactive cosmic bodies, Deoxys is still a virus which would need to infect a cell. While in space, it lacks all of the conditions needed to form a multicellular organism, plain and simple. The anime tries to lampshade this by having the virus become infused in the core, which crashes to earth and one could argue that it infected a host there and began to mutate in to what it is now. Being as the anime isn't canon to the games, this doens't answer much.

Girafarig's tail has its own tiny brain and is capable of eating and basic reaction skills on its own. This is far from bizarre when you have things like Dodrio which, despite having three separate heads and therefor three separate brains, they somehow can tell what one another is thinking and tend to fight constantly amongst themselves. Each also has its own distinct personally which constantly displays a single emotion. Now unless their brainstems are somehow all linked at the base where they enter the body...this is definitely not a natural possibility (though you could argue its intuitive similar to how human twins interact)

Exeggutor's heads are said to fall off and go on to become Exeggcute, arguable the only instance of de-evolution ever canonically supported by the games despite never actually being shown occurring (it is never mentioned if Magneton or Dugtrio are capable of splitting once joined)...ignoring the fact that Exeggutor's head looks NOTHING like Exeggcute, one has to wonder how it is able to sever the nerve endings allowing it to control the tree body, still survive on its own as a head lacking a stomach and lungs as obviously that was left behind (unless they were stored in the head, making the body completely useless other than for movement)...and for that matter what becomes of the tree body with legs and feet but no head. Is it still capable of defending itself? Does it die? Become a real tree? How does it move without brain activity, and if it does contain the brain then how do the heads survive? This was never addressed and obviously a huge physical impossibility.

If I can think of any more, I'll be sure to add on/post them...this should be plenty for now

  • Most NES and SNES characters can breathe underwater, without gills.
  • Pikachu.
  • Explosions destroy the object they hit, but have no effect on the landscape.
  • Everything in Second Life. The physics try to be realistic, but tend to have bugs, and objects are quite free to just set their momentum to a few hundred million km/h on a whim.
  • Keys open any lock, but then vanish. Horribly strong characters and their weapons can create explosions that would demolish entire cities, if they could affect the landscape, but can't simply burst open the door or make a hole in the wall.
  • Inns and potions. Need I say anything?
  • Hit points themselves. You can take a beating that would have obliterated a human body 10 times over, and still be just fine... but if you then step on a thumbtack, you collapse and die.
  • Hitstun. This is just how the program keeps from registering 60 hits per second when you get yourself hurt (as opposed to a more realistic method of knocking you backward), but still. Especially since it tends to last much longer than necessary.
  • Collisions with anything in Mario Kart-style games just send you tumbling over and over and over. This doesn't injure the characters or damage the vehicles at all. Double Dash has excellent examples. You can be dragged behind the kart at 60+km/h and after a few seconds, you just pull yourself back up and stand there like nothing ever happened.
  • Your "armour" can be little more than a breastplate and pants, but a sword, flame, spear etc still won't leave so much as a nick on your exposed skin. Still hurts, though.

Keitaro makes some fantastic points, though re: Exeggutor, I can imagine both the heads and body have a small set of brain, lungs, stomach, etc, such that they can survive on their own but are more intelligent and more capable of survival with the body attached. That raises the question of why the heads would fall off. I guess the body dies before the heads do?

The Pokedex in Crystal mentions something about it GROWING many heads in warm weather, which could also mean that once one falls off to become an Exeggcute another will grow back in its place, which is why you never see two headed Exeggutor...none the less, its still a very curious concept.

Not goign to read the walls of text in this channel, but remember that almost all classic games (exceptions Castlevania, etc) have your character able to be controlled while in midair, sometimes even letting you jump in one direction and end up in the other.

Most of the pokemon stuff kei mentioned is more biology than physics but either way it was a hilarious read.
