I had one (1) message in Discord deleted and proceeded to make a huge, huge mess about how it was a violation of free speech and how moderators are supposed to be spam janitors and nobody should have the right to tell me not to talk about school shootings

Heh, it has been a while since then. (Just looking at my former writing style is ) I had found the level data, but didn't have time to play with it, and then VL-Tone just took it and ran with it. I thought yeah, no time to re-learn everything he's found.

Then when I later had spare time, I looked and thought hmm, nobody's done anything to Mario Kart yet... they're actually pretty similar.

I wonder how long it'll take before we see Gamecube and Wii games being hacked? Brawl already has some simple mods. They may be a little more complex, but it's ultimately easier than N64: you have a nice filesystem (no hunting for files, figuring out what they are, and having to worry about pointers), SD and USB storage (easily load modified files - no slow, shoddy Datel hardware or overpriced copier required), LAN for debugging, and so much more CPU power and memory (meaning games aren't so heavily optimized and thus a little easier to understand and modify). Especially Wii adds these things to Gamecube games as well... if someone would just write a LAN debugger, I could have a crack at some Gamecube hacking.

More powerful GPU also means you'd be able to import more detailed models, say perhaps from PS2 games... lot of models there...

Just for the record, the OoT MQ Debug ROM is unoptimized and uncompressed save for jpegs. The main thing holding its hackers back is community history and mediocre emulators/plugins.

I saw a community start up dedicated to hacking Kingdom Hearts games a long time ago, but it lasted for a few weeks and the only thing to happen inside of it (and not somewhere else first) was someone making a couple lines of a particular gameshark code.

It would be neat to see some more games hacked. As time has progressed, more of the Sonic games have become hackable, and SM64 is finally nearing the crux where some really huge hacks can be done.

But of course, those new games will be the next generation... it'd always be nice to, say, hack into Brawl and make a lot of changes. Though I've seen a lot of early progress on that front... Brawl +, Brawl -, etc.

I can't wait for full model hacking in Brawl, then, since they can do cool stuff like add Metal Sonic completely in. Or make Waluigi fully playable.
