In short, Civ V is coming out this fall.

Awesome, finally! I always wanted to see a Civ 5, since I'm a big fan of the Civilization series... although I'm still waiting for RCT4 and SC5, I doubt those will happen anytime soon, if ever (I was worrying the same thing with Civ, too). =/

I just hope the changes will be worth it. Not much to fix in something that's already so good and loved.

Ooh, an actual Civilization V I was worried they'd go the Revolutions route with everything.

I wonder if my dad would play this. He only likes odd-numbered Civ games.

I notice that the map is hexagons and not squares/diamonds though. My dad is very picky about map shapes.

Cid Meyers fucked up on Revolution. I remember buying it, playing like ten games, and came to an unfortunate conclusion.

It's not only the same damn map, but it was boring as sin.

The older Civilization games were great (2 being my favorite, sure 3 I think brought in different religions that set crucial parts in the story but two was a little more balanced imo)

Other than that, it looks great. Only game I hope will never see the light of day on consoles. It works better on a computer.

Am I the only one that really likes Civ Rev? Well, besides my RL friend?

4 was the one with religion.

Looking forward to this. Civilization is awesome, I still play 4 with some friends online. If they keep modding as easy as with Civ4, this will be amazing.

Revolution for DS is actually pretty fun... it's a more casual Civ game and that's perfectly fine.

Looks like they're going two different directions; traditional with Civ V and casual with the Facebook game coming up. Can't complain.

This sounds like a good time for me to pick up this series... I have been wanting to do it for a while but I have just not got around to doing it.

Strange, my hubby has played this series since the start and I only got into it with Civ Rev.

My parents got Civ 1 in 1993. I was curious about it but they'd just say "It's very complicated" because I was 6 years old and all that. I watched them play a lot though.

When I first actually played it, I was taught by my dad, who tended to be a warmonger, so at first that was my playing style.

I don't like tactical games, which is one of the reasons why I never got into it at first.

I got Civ 1 back in 1993, with my old Mac... a few years later, I got Civ 2, and I started to prefer that over Civ 1 (like me with SC2000 vs SC1). Now, I alternate between Civ 3 and Civ 4, and I will buy Civ 5 right when it comes out. =D

Well, I am sure a lot of newcomers to the series thought it was great. That's one of the reasons why it was made.

I just did not like it because it was repetitive. Not to mention it was basically a dumbed down Civ2.

I mean I liked it at first until I finally told myself that it just was not for me.

I liked Civ I, II, III. I skipped Civ IV, as Civ III got boring and I felt Civ IV was more of the same.

Civ V looks interesting and may revive my interest, by giving me something truly 'new' to play with.
