Yeah, if you sell your car in California, good luck. You're no longer a person.

Indeed, if I had a car, I could probably get a real job.

Michigan is worse, considering that the automotive industry in North America is mostly based here.

I told my teacher just this morning that I was late because my bus was late, and he basically scoffed at the idea that a college student would be getting to school using any means other than driving their own car.

Ah, yeah. Here, there's public transportation, just that your routes become very restricted. X_x

And of course, we're California, so people like the idea of busses and such...

...But cars remain the 'have to have' thing.

What part of California are you in? I'd imagine San Francisco would be different from Los Angeles, at least.

In metro Detroit, about half of the metro area has no buses at all. The other half mostly only has them running hourly during daylight on roads spaced up to 3 miles apart Monday through Saturday. Only some of the largest roads have more frequent bus service.

It's a bit "better" in the city itself, but like 90% of the city limits are horrible ghettos and the other 10% mostly consists of downtown and the Wayne State University areas.

Los Angeles.

SF just has less parking and colder days, mostly.
