Who knows? However, that Kirby version has never been ported, re-released, or found in a compilation. Likely won't be either.

Too many rights to negotiate. It says Nintendo, Hal, Compile, and Banpresto on it's startup screen. Banpresto is now owned by Namco Bandai, while Sega owns the core Puyo engine.

...No. Puyo came first. Madou Monogatari is the series it's based off on that started around the MSX era near the start of the 90s. Puyo Puyo NES came out around 1991 (there's a translated version available on the web). For whatever reason, it wasn't released stateside in the Puyo Pop series until the GBA rolled around in 2001. The states missed a LOT of good games for Puyo. Kirby's Avalanche/DRMBM is based on Super Puyo Puyo, which is limited. Super Puyo Puyo 2 (Tsuu) is actually a hell of a lot better, mostly for the offsetting trait. Then you have the only reason I would ever consider getting an N64, the games for it. Puyo Puyo Sun is easily one of the most enjoyable yet obscure games I've come across in some time. If I had a way to effectively play 2P against people in Kaillera I would've done so with Rulue (hohohoho...) a long ass time ago.

Kirby, Dr. Robo, anything is a clean rip on Madou Monogatari. If you want to see an RPG from MM, you'd be best to head over to AGTP Translations and grab up the translation for the ROM.

What's funniest about Kirby's Avalanche and DRMBM is that the blocks are the exact same sprites as Puyo Puyo. XD

Well, yeah. The game was Puyo Puyo, they just added the relevant sprites. (Kirby stuff for KA and Sonic cartoon-based sprites for MBM)

...See, if you can't get to Game 3 then something's seriously wrong.

It would be like playing the NWC rom and not having time to play Tetris.

You know, I've never played that.

Oh, and don't forget.. Dr. Mario sucks. I'm not suprised to see someone lose at it...

You should. The points are multiplied like crazy in Tetris so you need to get there with as much time on the clock as possible; and there's no on-screen timer so you need to rush through Rad Racer without crashing.

It's a pretty fun rom to pick up and play just to see what others had to go through during that championship.

I have the Nintendo World Championships 1990 ROM here, but I don't know how to actually use it.

None of the buttons do anything, it just infinite loops on the title screen...

I think you have to press START or A (I forget which) on the second player controller to start the game, but I'm not sure about that.

Hm... whatever happened to this idea?

The only problem is that for a lot of people, school just started...

Not enough people are interested so I'm not even going to attempt it.

I don't want a repeat of the last tourney.

It was actually released on the Virtual Console, I think 2 or 3 weeks ago.

And this thread just made me unburry my Tetris & Dr. Mario Cart.

If we were doing TBG, the rules would have to be changed slightly because there's NO way I would want to fight someone with the way they originally have the crystals being used. 4 crystals for the best attack is a bit easy so I'd have to have it at 8 or 12 (it's changeable in the options).

I'd be a nightmare with either the Witch Doctor or the Princess, I think.
