Hi everyone!

I'm sort of functioning as a volunteer for this rather awesome thing that Xk is doing. And now I'm posting about it on it here, to get your attention!

The Cutting Room Floor is a wiki-fied version of BMF's site of the same name.

Right now, I'm working on porting old content over from the original site, but at some point, we're gonna need new content. And so, the purpose of this thread. Have you seen something weird and unused floating around in your rom-hacking travels? Throw a post in here with a little write-up, and it'll sneak its way onto the wiki. (Unless Xk makes it open-registration sometime, in which case... screw the middle man, make it yourself. D

I think I can field this answer. Most of the content on the wiki right now is unused stuff that has been hacked out of games. It isn't "Let's create new things!", nor is it "Let's find development pictures!" It's that shining in-between, finding glowing examples of removed content hiding within the inner reaches of familiar data.

http://wiki.rustedlogic.net/Air_Fortress Uncompiled code being used to pad ROM space.
http://wiki.rustedlogic.net/Jumpin%27_Kid Alternate and unused title screens.

Things like that. Or dummied-out cheat codes. (Or just codes that nobody ever found. D: ) All of these qualify as "cutting room floor" elements, although if Xk wants to correct me... well, his is the Word of God, in this case. D:

Yes, that's exactly it. Unused data, development tools, and things that are fully accessible by normal means, but were never revealed to the public and are too complex to be discovered by accident (like the Zanac debug mode). In short, things players were never meant to know about.

Ideally, everything on the wiki will be taken straight from the games themselves; i.e. no early magazine screenshots of missing enemies unless you can still find and demonstrate the accompanying data within the ROM. I much prefer cold, hard data to rumors and speculation.

Heh, so I actually just caught wind of the wiki today, which I find pretty cool.

I actually have my own wiki of the exact same kind of content, and I was considering seeing about helping out with it, or putting stuff together, or doing some general helpful what-have-you with it, 'cause well, The Cutting Room Floor is what really got me interested in that kind of stuff. Who should I direct it to, necessarily?

There's also those crap-ton of unused levels in SMB3 as well that never really got talked about on The Cutting Room Floor originally. I know TMK's got the info on it, including maps. It'd be a nifty thing to post up.

And what about the SimCity debug mode? Surprised that isn't up there yet.

Nope, sorry. Too busy. I just added two unused screens I found. The debug menu and test room descriptions aren't done yet.
