Yeah, scanning is a little tedious, but the scanner upgrade really helps. Also, I only had to scan three or four planets, since I managed to always scan ones marked "Rich."

Guess it depends what you go for, too. I hardly upgraded everything, mostly just the stuff I needed for the better endings.

So this game is pretty much awesome. 3 hours or so in. I just acquired as party members. Level 5. Hearing Tricia Helfer's voice as EDI is amazing.

I enjoyed the fact that ME2 is so much more streamlined compared to ME1.

Not having to dick around with inventory and stat screens all the time is liberating.

Anya, your spoiler doesn't work when layouts are turned on, at least here (Firefox on Windows 7, no theme or other addons used, which may alter page display)
As a guest, it works as intended.
Doesn't affect me, as I finished the first Mass Effect, which was pretty nice. I also enjoyed the Mako sections unlike many others (except the part you get a shitload of experience and armor, if you "want" to be a completionist ...), but do not need to play ME2. I wait until it drops in price, then will get it.
