I have decided to give my liver a break and avoid consuming large amounts of alcohol for about a week. Not to mention start drinking water and much healthier foods. Quitting smoking does has it's benefits, but there is a major drawback. One of them is my craving for foods will go up, which means I might need to start eating healthier foods (Like salads and so on).

Also, there is another reason why I am not drinking. If you are a smoker and you drink alcohol. You will smoke like a god damn chimney. Now, I have started using personal vaporizers but I want to at least wait about a week before I drink. Then I will put this vaporizer to the true test.

I would have posted this in the blog thread. But meh, everyone knows I get drunk a lot and post WACKY AND CARAZY threads here.

Meh, the more you know I guess.

Does this fall under 'efforts to get a girl'?

Not in the slightest.

Plus it's kinda hard picking up chicks when you don't even have a vehicle.

And also, I'm not looking for one.

K, just figured I'd josh around the holiday in particular.

But yea, in the long haul, drinking and smoking like there's no tomorrow might actually lead to it. Common knowledge, I'm sure but it's probably better to quit doing one of the two sooner than later.

Could be like my boss that quit smoking cold turkey after a few decades. Didn't ease out like he should have. Withdrawal is one thing. Being sick to the point of lung and heart problems is another and that's what he went through for months for killing it without first taking it easy. Think he stayed bad a good four months and he's still not all that well off yet.

I never smoked... tobacco, that is... although I did salvia once, back in like 2008. In terms of alcohol, I have my occasional vodka, but I don't drink it like every night or anything like that, and usually just a small amount when I do drink it. =P

Also, I think cannabis should be legal, because face it: if it'll keep people away from alcohol, then go ahead... (and, producing really strong cannabis strains during the current DEA ban on cannabis can be related to the production of excessively strong moonshine during Prohibition)

Yeah, sometimes you have to do what's good for your body in that regard, even if you enjoy smoking/drinking/whatever. I don't think small amounts of alcohol damage your liver though, only huge quantities, so you should be able to still drink occasionally after a while I don't smoke or drink alcohol, but lately I've been trying to cut down on pop soda soft drink intake and drink more water and juice.

My mom smoked until 1991 or so. I was always taught throughout school "SMOKING IS BAD! ONLY EVIL PEOPLE SMOKE! NEVER SMOKE OR YOU'LL KEEL OVER DEAD WITHIN SECONDS!" and other exaggerations, so I always stayed away from smoking. It saves money, too. I know once you start it's hard to stop though.

(Disclaimer: No, I don't think smokers are evil)

Someone once told me at church that I was going to hell for smoking cigarettes.

Two months later they picked back up on the habit. (Originally they quit cold turkey)

I stopped going to church

A week shouldn't be too bad in terms of crazy threads. And hey, I'm glad you're trying to kick the smoking habit.

Good luck with that.

I only get real drunk at parties...and there's one at the end of th month. Still unsure if I'm going to go or not.

Besides, I rather just get tipsy. It's a lot more fun for me.

If you have the urge to drink (which I hope you don't), there's always caffiene!

Caffeine makes me act drunk, so that would be why I never drink.

But good luck, Bit.

Oh God, don't even get me started on a hypocritical church people rant. Most of those people, at least the ones at the church my dad goes to, are literally a hair away from completely losing it. If they are struggling with any problem of their own, the only way they seem to be able to deal with it is to condemn others who have the same problem as them, so in some twisted way they can feel better about themselves. It's like they're putting on a show for God or something. Yeah, good luck with that.

Anyway, back on topic. I've always found that a good cleaning/purge of junk from the body every once in a while is a very good thing. Usually for me it means staying away from sweets, drinking a lot more water than usual, eating less, and eating healthy when I do eat. I would also say only drinking water, but I do that anyway now ever since I finally gave up soda. Unfortunately these purging bouts never seem to last long with me. It isn't long before I give in to the first unhealthy comfort food that come to mind. But still, a t least it accomplishes some good.

I always drink either water or Gatorade. Water mostly. I would take water over a soft drink anyday.

I started eating better foods. I had a chicken alfredo and some salad over at the Olive Garden and damn, my body feels wonderful.

I always ate horribly because I'm incredibly picky, so I have a multivitamin. I also have Ovaltine sometimes, just powder by the spoonful, not in milk or anything.

I don't really drink soft drinks anymore... but I do love SoBe 0 Calorie Life Water. I drink both that and regular water fairly often. =D

And yea, I take a multivitamin every morning too, always have and always will...

I stopped drinking soda for about two years. This year, I've had some, but still no where near the amount that I used to drink and I don't keep any soda at the apartment. I also stopped drinking Gatoraide, Poweraide, and any type of energy drink. It's only water and juice for me. And that has helped me a lot.

I really oughta stop drinking soda as much. My problem is water is bland and juice isn't always here. Same for fruits, love oranges

I've found that water is more refreshing the thirstier I am It can be bland sometimes, but after I've been riding my bike in the heat or something equally strenuous, it's the most refreshing beverage.
