Man. Can you believe that? Took them 16 years to realize the games which sold them the most were, guess what, popular.

Ignoring everything after (and including) Heroes, they had major problems outside of game design.

Don't forget, Sonic Adventure and Adventure 2 were on the Dreamcast. It was a good system, yes, but calling it an "underdog" is being overwhelmingly generous to its success. If there hadn't been systems named "32x" or "Saturn", things may have been different, but as it was, Sega had already lost their position as a major contender.

Don't see a sonic game being terribly playable on the iPhone, unless they somehow dumbed it down. The iPhone is terribly inadequate for classic button based game controls. But uh, why no PC version? I'd love to be able to play this at 1920x1080 on a proper screen and amazing framerates (though I doubt the consoles will lag much on this. :p)... It's just much more convenient to play on a pc.

Anyway, I like Sonic's new look. But then, I think they could've even just used Unleashed Sonic's model and it'd have worked.

I'm also liking that preview of the first level there: I like how, although they did mix in elements of tired old Green Hill, some newer style and substance can already be seen.

I liked Advance 1, Advance 3, and Rush. Sonic Advance 2 and Rush Adventure were... okay, I guess. Not great.
Also, I still love the Adventure series games.

Some things I've found over at Sonic Retro that I thought were interesting. Just like the July/Iphone image, there was another one too.

Also, someone actually edited the current model a bit just to make a good point.

The one on the right is the edit, and damn does it hearken back to classic Sonic more than any other model I've seen recently. (Maaaaaaaybe Brawl... But even then I think something that looks like this image trumps it big time...)

Well, I mean... If it's going to be a sequel to Sonic 3, I'm going to be pissy about every detail. It needs to be worthy of the title 'Sonic 4' as it is a continuation of the series that I hold closer to me than I do any other game, even the others in the Sonic series. I'm still trying to clear my mind of every issue I have with the info out right now so I can make a simple, concise list... But to be honest, I'm very optimistic about this. But all in all, it's a good model. I love it. Just nix the big floppy donkey dick spikes and we're set.

Yeah. I thought his run in Rush looked weird too.

The problem with the advance games was that there was a lot of memorization required. Especially for Rush, if I remember.

Anyway, here are a few of my gripes:

- Get rid of the dust trails behind Sonic. Seriously, that's a no-brainer there...

- Throw out the Sonic speed walk you imbeciles invented and get us some classic wheel running. (Peel out works too, but wheel run is preferred.)

- If you call the antagonist Dr. Eggman I'm going to impale myself. It's Dr. Robotnik and will forever be DR. ROBOTNIK.

- You know what? I already know you will since you gave him the Sonic Adventure makeover bullshit. Classic Robotnik get up or bust.

- No homing attack. I don't think I have to get into why that's the biggest mistake ever for a 2D sonic game. There is no place for aerial ANYTHING in classic Sonic. Just jumps, bumpers, ramps, and springs. (And for those of you who are sitting at the edge of your seats waiting to go "SONIC MEGAMIX!," sit the fuck down. That's a hack with a completely different play style than classic Sonic. In fact, it wasn't, in any real way, trying to mimic that style at all, but rather build on it to make another, completely new, style. Even the creator, Tweaker, agrees with me on that.)

- You've already heard our gripes about SPEED SPEED SPEED, well, considering you're actually making an effort to glean what you can from classic sonic (honestly I don't think it's much of an effort at all...) The LEAST you could do is try to make the game feature at least some form of tricky platforming. Your most recent work, Unleashed split the two up, now bring them together, and it should be playable at the least.

- I realize there's not much I can say to you guys about the 3D model. I mean you people are obsessed with your 2.5D and that honestly isn't a bad thing... As much as I'd love an HD sprite, you people are set in your ways... It's just that you guys really ought to make an effort to at least make Sonic look CLOSE to how he was back in the mid 90s. There's already a quick mock up image of a quick spike trim. That would satisfy me and I'm sure it would quell the anger of others as well.

I can't think of anything else at the moment... All the other information impressed me. I'm just really disappointed that you're going to bastardize a perfectly good series by appealing to the modern bullshit only sugar high five year olds care about. I assure you, you don't need to go that route. Simply by slapping Sonic the Hedgehog on the title of the game will make the game appealing to them. Worry about quality, not appealing to a immature minority.

If you have any reason to be mad about this, it's when there's more than four fucking seconds of footage of real gameplay, not just a goddamn corkscrew loop.
Judge the game on its gameplay, its music and its graphics on a whole, once there's something substantial there.
