I agree with everyone who dislikes Valentine's Day. I've had way to many bad times on that day.

One story that I still remember to this day ((that still pisses me off when Valentine's day comes around)).This all happened when i still in high school. I got box of chocolate's, flower's, and a card for this girl I was dating. We had been dating for about a month and a half. As soon as i got to school that morning and saw her i gave her everything. I was just hoping for her just to say "Aww thank you, this is sweet of you", but unfortunately got a different answer from her that pissed me off so bad. The words that rolled off her mouth was "Gezz really? you should have just gotten me a grandma card".

The words that came out of my mouth were "Really? Wow, thank you for a wonderful starting day. We dont date anymore".

Decided "Fuck Valentines Day".

Damn! If some guy did that for me on Valentines day, I wouldn't care If I thought he was a total creep otherwise, I would OWE him at least 1 date. I mean, that shows that you care about said person, are really sweet, AND you can fucking bake. Those are all good things in my book.

But yeah valentines day sucks. I have never had a date on it, and anyone that I have ever been interested in has never wanted me. Thanks for reminding me February! Luckily, I'm not the only one around here that seems to not care about it, so it's not like I have to have it shoved down my throat. Actually, my past few Valentines days have been pretty good. Usually, they were days that we got hit with a blizzard, making it a snow day, and snow days rock!

I'm actually kind of glad I don't have a date for Valentines day given how that day suddenly puts pressure on the couple to do something romantic and unique for the other one, when of course EVERYTHING that you could possibly do has the price jacked up sky high until February 15th. My sister works in a floral department, and she basically told her fiance that if he ever got her flowers right at valentines day, she would dump him because it meant that he didn't care about throwing away money. Roses are like triple price right now. Restaurants are also sky high and hell on earth that day. Good luck working at Olive Garden. Of course, I did see White Castle advertising how they are the perfect Valentine's place to be! WTF? You'd have to be the cheapest person ever! I'd rather have a nice romantic dinner at home or something.

At least its not as bad a "Sweetest Day" though. At least Valentine's Day is sort of an established Holiday by now. Sweetest Day seems like it was invented solely to make people go "OH SHIT! I forgot about that day! I better go buy something NOW!" I mean, it's right before Halloween. Who the hell is going to think about something romantic/Valentine's dayish right before fucking Halloween?

I heard about Sweetest Day on some TV show or other, and I had no idea what it was. I thought it was honouring people from Sweden, or some such.

But yeah, if you love someone why should you show your affection only on exact dates because Hallmark told you to?

Actually, now that I read this thread through again...no wonder divorces are up around this time of the year.

Maybe I should just consider being single for the rest of my days if people are supposedly that thoughtless as well as bitter about the concept of not getting something for love-love day.

Only reason I say the latter is that it shouldn't really matter if I was given something or not just as long as the relationship is a good one and always will be. Of course, thought counts on days where everyone is expected to do something for the other person, but honestly it just leads to commercialization more often than not anyways.

Good day with just the two of anyone would be a winner in my book. Better memories off that than something bought with green.

I don't even remember in the old world the merchants blowing up Valentine's Day like the way they do it now, it's almost like the way they blow up Christmas. It's all about putting pressure & making people spend, once you see it for what it is, you'll keep it moving... >8D

And they also forget the fact that there's nothing wrong with doing something nice for your beau/belle on any one of the remaining 364 days of the year.

The media gets it into our heads so much that girls are PISSED if nothing special happens that day.
