Two identical shows airing on Discovery. Why? Didn't Discovery already try "How do they do it?"

My theory: Zac Fine was angry that the viewers preferred Brooks T. Moore's narration and audio mixing over his, back when How It's Made switched over to him, only to switch back to Brooks a few seasons later. So to compensate, Zac formed his own identical show, Factory Made, complete with the same brand of corny jokes.

I personally prefer the Brooks version of How It's Made, if only because the music. I'm still hoping for a soundtrack...

So whatever Zac, Brooks owns your ass if only because the music. ;P

(hehehe)

Both are shows that show things being made in factories, in depth, while a narrator explains the process.

They're literally the exact same show. I think the only difference is that Factory Made is produced by Discovery, while How It's Made is licenced from a Canadian network. I'm just hoping that the advent of Factory Made doesn't mean the death of How It's Made.

Oh, what a ripoff

I used to love watching How It's Made, back when I still had Discovery :/

Hey, I liked that show as a kid.

Discovery's identical shows:

How It's Made / Factory Made / How Stuff Works

Man Vs. Wild / Survivorman

Point being, Discovery likes to run gags.

I've underlined the ones that are superior in my eyes.

How It's Made because of the music (I really badly want those songs! )
Survivorman because he's a one-man film crew, thus, more of a badass.

Also, don't forget Deadliest Catch / Swords: Life on the line. (no underline because both shows are about stupid people yelling at each other on a boat, which is equally stupid no matter what they're fishing for)

and 2010's official fad: Ghost Hunters (Which is on Sci Fi, actually) / Ghost Lab / The Haunted (Ghost Hunters because they take a scientific and skeptical view versus Ghost Lab's "OH MY GOD A SOUND IT'S OBVIOUSLY A GHOST!!!!!!".)

Ghost Hunters wouldn't count, then. But Syfy does have Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International, and Ghost Hunters Academy.

That's slightly different though, because GH, GHI, and GHA are all kinda the same show, in a literal sense, wherein a "Ghost Hunters" timeslot can be filled in with any one of those three shows.

They're the same community, really. Just saying they're 'the same show'. Pretty unusual, really. I'm trying to think of other 'repeat shows' that have the same premise but is done the same thing.

And I just thought of it. It's Me or the Dog and Dog Whisperer.

Good choice. Because Man Vs. Wild is a fake show.

Yeah, Survivorman is much cooler because of the whole one-man film crew. I mean, sure he's got to have a group standing by some miles away if he gets into real deep shit like that siberian episode where he was only halfway to the rendezvous point after the 7 allotted days but they don't lend a hand at all. It's all him out there and that's really awesome to me.

I've never seen Factory Made but I have seen How It's Made. I'll usually watch it if I'm waiting for something else or if I'm waiting to leave. I never look for the show, it just tends to be on a lot when I turn on Discovery.

I love How It's Made, and Brooks Moore's narration. Also its funky background music.

But then I watched the Mister Roger's crayon clip. Fred spoke to a young audience, but there is no way to beat Johnny Costa's piano in the background. Such a talented jazz musician.
But they have left us, so go Brooks!

Overall Discovery doesn't suck. I looooove Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, and Cash Cab!!

However on the Travel Channel the only interesting people/shows are Anthony Bourdain and Samantha Brown. Nearly everything else is strictly about eating.

Also, the sesame street crayon video is superior.

<object width="425" height="344"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/HMU-wXsgyR8&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I mean sesame street crayon MUSIC VIDEO.

Oldschool Sesame Street was really super trippy.

I dunno, both videos have their appeal, but I have to wonder if that's the same exact factory in both videos.

How It's Made has done colored pencils, and Lego-like blocks (Childrens' building blocks), but I don't think they've done crayons.
