Summery:
A hack of Rockman (J) Nes, changes any graphic I can get my hands on, also new levels and story. Also a few ASM hacks from Glyph.

Why I made this hack:
Mostly boredom, summer vacation is a time where you want to do something to keep your mind busy. I remembered playing Megaman in the Mushroom Kingdom, and I wanted to make a megaman hack also. So with rockandroll, Tile Molester, and random Hexeditor #3457, I went to work.

Story
An evil wizard named Meta is slowly turning everyone to stone, however thanks to your magical powers you were not affected. In order to save everyone you set out to break the 6 seals protecting the wizard's base, and gain their lost magic.

It looks really good...

I'm curious about one thing... why hack Rockman (J) rather than the US version? Are there any notable differences?

Nothing much, other than a better title screen. Oh, and rock and roll will corrupt the rom if you use an unsupported function.

This does look nice, an original story (like it really matters in a Mega Man game ), and I really like the graphics editing as well. (Especially the Paper Mario tileset, awesome) So I assume the bosses will look different, but will there be anything to make them behave more like the 'seals' they're supposed to be?

Not bad. I haven't played any Mega Man hacks, but this might be the first I try. Looks like it'll be fun.

Oh my god, Kattwah's layout works!
--------------------------------

This hack looks very good. I especially like the Lineland Road and Lego tilesets the best. You did a very good job on them.

Oh yeah I see the Link's Awakening tileset now. I didn't think of it because of the skeletons.

The skeletons are actually the only reason I noticed it was from Link's awakening in the first place. Anyway, good to see progress being made. As opposed to a thread dying down and then the hack dying with it.

I don't remember if I've said this already, but those graphics - the trees in particular - are awesome.

You can see the waves if you look closely. Besides, what much can you do with 8 bit GFX?

Keep on hacking...

Also, I found out how some of the evil robots share parts with megaman! Woo! So I will be doing quite a bit of sprite editing on them... now I also have to track down their palettes. Fun Fun Fun!

Also, the reason for that is megaman uses tile based maps and not object based maps... so having two colored water would be a grand pain to do.

Nice progress Darkdata, even though I've been lurking around these days cause lack of motivation, your hack is coming along pretty cool. Keep it up man, the scene needs more Mega Man hacks.
