As I move forward in life, I tend to make little plans for myself and see if I will stick to them or deviate.

I have been living in the US all my life and I love it but I am not tied to this land. So in accordance with the credo "Love it or Leave it" I am looking for other countries to live in.

I have a large family mainly spread across Dubai, India and Pakistan and would definitely love to see them more often. Every time I visit them I feel more at home than in the US. Yes, they are less developed countries; but they are also more indicative of the lifestyle that most of the world has. The rich diversity of cultures is obvious and also it's a lot easier to develop mass efforts. My uncle regularly takes a few doctors to a village for a day where they perform routine examinations on hundreds of people.

Above all else, I hate mediocrity. Yes, I am a family man. But I am also a dreamer. I would enjoy my job a lot more when faced with a very difficult challenge. And so I've been trying to compile a list of places I'd like to move to.

1. India(duh)
2. Pakistan(recent developments kind of deter me)
3. Spain(seems to be one of the more Muslim friendly Western European countries)
4. Norway(I hear it's a real swell place to live!)
5. Finland
6. Singapore(close but can be expensive)
7. Canada

What about you guys? Plan on staying where you are or do you want to move?

I like where I currently live.

I wouldn't mind living on one of the islands in Fiji or London. But it's too cool and rainy in London, so I think I'd rather just visit there.

Honestly, I just want to get the hell out of CA sometime in life; I'm tired of the heat and this desert atmosphere.

I'd rather live somewhere green.

Scenery matter not, honestly...it's a matter of if I think my heart's in the place I'm at and that the people I see on a daily basis as friends, family or otherwise are something I want to be around.

That said, I really don't know. It's not that I'm averse to change or anything it's just I don't honestly have a clue outside of living where it's comfortable for me.

Anywhere but Detroit. Get me out of here.

OK, here are the characteristics of my ideal home:
- Medium or large city, basically 50k people or more. I grew up in a small town and discovered that the rural life is not for me.
- Urban/downtown environment. Not urban as in ghetto, as the word unfortunately seems to connotate these days. But, dense population, diverse population, things like shops nearby, lots of mass transit. I don't mind crowds outside or in stores and such, they only bother me when it's in a house or workplace and I'm trying to get something done and like 30 people work in the same room (i.e., my old job).
- Decent neighbourhoods. Not all run-down dilapidated houses abandoned 30 years ago with constant robberies and shootings like Detroit.
- Mild climate, may tend toward cold. I've always lived in very extreme climates and I'm sick of super-cold winters, snow in spring, and 90°F summer days.
- Liberal politics, both socially and economically. Ideally the government would make sure nobody is poor and give people the freedom to mostly do what they want as long as they aren't infringing on others' rights.
- LGBT-friendly. I'm not straight and I don't want to have to pretend to be. I would like access to an LGBT community where I could feel at home.
- Variety of industry. The state of Michigan is mostly dominated by an industry I have no interest in: automobiles. My school seems pretty much geared for people to work for car companies. Most of the big companies are car companies. I don't care about cars, let me get a job doing something else.

Detroit fails at all of these, except the size and being economically liberal (although it's pretty conservative socially). The downtown is improving a lot but it's still surrounded by a huge ghetto (except on the border with Canada).

Within the USA I would like to live in Seattle. I'm also liking Portland and San Francisco but I decided that Seattle was the best fit. Outside the USA, I would love to live in Canada, or Northern or Western Europe

Like Anya, I have no problem with where I am currently living. There are a lot of places that I wouldn't mind visiting but I don't think that I would ever want to move to any of them.

Unlike my mom who dreams of moving into a bigger house, I don't really see the point of having a big house. I would rather spend the money on other things than moving from a perfectly good house (that isn't even that small) to a bigger house for no reason .

It's a dream to be recruited by a magic circle law firm and move to the UK. Aside from that, and the US, I really wouldn't want to move anywhere else.

A sad, sucky and desolated town with people with openness same as a mind closed in a strongbox! That crowd still take around me because of my behavior when i was at elementar school, of the fear of bugs and of many other things!!! Unlivable!!! Please get me the hell outta there!!!
Well, no matter where is, the only place where i wanna live is a vaste city with many people, it's likely to find a mind-opened people (in over 9000 inhabitants, you can't believe 1 of them is good) which you can trust! Where i live you cannot trust anyone, they fool you in any way: this happens if you are intelligent and mind-opened, if you are idiot like them, you get on well. I realized this time ago, i thought i was the problem if i couldn't get on well with many people, but if people are stupid, talking is pointless. Florence could be an idea (while most people there greet me when they look at you, where i live they pretend to don't know you, ignoring ).

Guys, we need money! Good luck!

My parents have 2 houses (well, 1 detached house and 1 condominium). The only beings living in them are my mom, my dad, their cat, and the fish in their aquarium. Do they really need all that space? And they were planning to buy a third house too

I have an aunt and uncle who, for no apparent reason, moved from one boring suburban McMansion to another a few years ago.

Not many places, mostly places far away from California and which are either outside of the US or remote enough in the US that they aren't as effected by politics as they would be otherwise.

NOT OVER YET
Hm. Honestly, I was thinking some sort of big city. I'm tired of this suburban atmosphere. It's nice and peaceful, but it's just too damn quiet and boring.

I love Virginia. I'll probably stay here for the rest of my life as several jobs around here would love to get someone with my major and minor. I'm used to the climate since I've lived here all my life. I might get a house in a less populous area... Actually there are some faux-country looking areas less than a mile a way. (Scared me the first time I saw it...)

Now, with that said, my dream places if the country/state goes down the shitter (In no particular order):

- Bayern (Bavaria) - Southern Germans know how it works. "It" being everything. That and it's kinda' a country within a country with its own special privileges.

- Sicily - Technically the "Old Country" for me. I've still got some distant cousins over there. I will probably end up living along the Western coast or up North near Palermo. The island is basically overrun by the mob and has an active volcano, but heck, I can learn to love it. (BTW It has HOT SPRINGS.)

- Malta - Just south of Sicily and about the same culture. Another great place, I guess. There's plenty of history as it's technically the central hub of the Mediterranean.

- Faroe Islands - Saw it one day. It looked remote enough, yet there's civilization there. Could be fun.

Shits and giggles; Giggles and Shits:

- The Bikini Atoll - The once famous test site of the US hydrogen bomb is now a remote, beautiful, resort. Still debating on whether living there is really worth it...

- Tank/Ballast Key - Tank Key is a small private resort island directly off the south western coast of Key West. Cool Name. Nice Island. I like. Ballast Key is the "Southern Most Point" of the US. Also a private island. And there's luck too... It's up for sale for an obscene amount of money. If someone wants to paypal that to me, just let me know beforehand...

- Cheeseman Island - I saw it on Google Maps. It's remote and somewhere near New Zealand. I thought it would be kinda' funny to live there at some point, but there seems to be a problem with mosquito infestation...

Right now, I just wish I could get out of this city I'm living in (which would happen in around 6 months). It's plagued with murders, robberies (three of which happened to me in the span of about 2 weeks), and violence making it one of the most dangerous cities in the world. I don't go outside much and I live near the edge of the city, but even then it's still not really safe. Unfortunately, I'll be leaving my parents here in 6 months and I'll be worried about them since they won't come with me (My dad can't even if he wanted to).

I haven't really thought about where I would want to live since all I want to do is leave this place.

Honestly, the only country I would consider moving to right now is Japan, and no, not for the LOLANIMEANDGAMESOMGITSJAPAN reasons everyone else would, but because its the second largest music industry in the world by a long shot. That's...kind of not something I should rule out considering my decided career choice. Cost of living is expensive as hell though, so there's probably no way I'd actually do it unless a promise of employment potential was involved (likely no less than an audition call-back) Europe sounds cool and all, but from a career-minded standpoint its not very appealing plus I don't think I'd really fit in too well there. At least in Japan I could thrive musically and work through the cultural stuff as I eventually gain prominence.

That all said, California was looking pretty damn appealing (you know, until they ran out of money) for a while, but eh. I might not be in love with Texas, but its a good area with a lot going on, so I imagine I can tolerate it a bit longer (the lower cost of living certainly helps) until I get on my feet with the music thing. Plus San Antonio is a fun city. Eh. I still consider Massachusetts my first home so I'm kind of drawn to places that remind me of that (big cities sprinkled with grassy suburbs) Wouldn't kill me to move out of my apartment though...but that's something I'm working on, too.

Hopefully you'll end up moving to a decent neighborhood. You said you were in Corona, right?

Personally I moved from a shitty neighborhood in the Bronx (near Fordham Road), to Rego Park in Queens (aka where the fuck did this suburb come from), back to the Bronx, but this time in a much nicer neighborhood near Eastchester Road and Pelham Parkway.

What a trip, huh?
As for where I'd like to live, I really love New York City, so I don't think I'd want to move. I probably couldn't get used to the quietness of a countryside home. :\
