This is the second time that I've gotten to work an hour early. I could have sworn, as I was rushing to leave the apartment, that I was leaving at the right time. Now I'm stuck at work.

I would read, but it has to be quiet for me to be able to read. It's raining outside, plus people are smoking out there. The TV is on in the break room, so I really don't have a nice quiet spot to read.

At least it's raining. If it's raining at 1:20, the time I usually leave, then maybe it wasn't that bad that I got to work early.

It still pisses me off, though. Twice I've done this and I don't know why it's happening. I've never been like this before.

Granted, when I worked at GS, if I worked at night, I had to be there at 1pm. But I've been at this job for almost a year. The only day that I have to come in at 1pm, is Sunday.

Maybe that's what's screwing me up.

At least I can post at Jul while I waste away the time before I start work.

Shame it's a bit dead.

Oh well.

Read on the toilet. Bathrooms are usually relatively quiet.

Generally when I'm tired, I screw all kinds of things up, like reading the time or really reading anything. My brain is already really scattered as it is...

I read the numbers for the hour wrong a lot, which usually results in me waking up very early (4:00 in the morning), or sleeping late (Sometimes it's 1:00, but I think it's 11:00).

Needless to say, I screw my time up too much.

After years of middle and high school class periods roughly 60 minutes in length, I trained myself to ignore the hour hand on analogue timepieces and just pay attention to the minute hand. This has got me confused a few times outside of school.

I think that's what's been happening to me. Maybe I looked at the minutes and not the hour....

My favorite "Stupid Human Trick" is to look at the clock and go to read it, then unconsciously read it, turn my head, and go "Wait, I didn't look at it long enough to read anything!" a few moments later.

Yep, I do that too sometimes. I look at my watch, then look at it again because I realized I didn't notice the time. Even though I was looking at something whose function basically is to tell time.

Does it count as reading the time wrong when you panic about being late or about what time it is only to find out the "clock" you read was the timer on the stove for that night's dinner? Plus the occasional reading a clock without AM/PM on it and mistaking 3 AM and 3 PM.

I would often ignore the meridiem when setting clocks after DST or power outages, which would fuck up my parents' alarms sometimes.

Whenever a clock is wrong, I just subtract the amount of wrong hours.

Minutes is usually all I need.

There's a bunch of sticker residue covering up the first digit on my alarm clock (no, I do not know why I put a sticker on it) and a lot of the time it causes me to wake up and think it's 1 or 2 PM when it's really 11 or 12 AM. Makes for some unnecessary (but brief) stress

Me, sometimes I have something like a tube of lip balm or bottle of water covering one of the numbers by being in front of it. "It's eleven thirty-what now?"

Paulguy's Post configuration
I do the looking at a clock then forgetting what I was looking for and not getting the time thing a lot.

My conputer's clock used to always be wrong too, because the time was set to eastern but my os thought it was utc and compensating to make it eastern. Or I forgot to change it from what it was set to at the factory. Then I was just too lazy to fix it... I'd just live with it and always do the math. This was bad when I was tired so it'd screw me up.
