Hmm. The idea of the level is quite good, but i think you should fix a couple of things:

At the beginning, what happens if you loose the mushroom? You get stuck! and you should fix that you start over the screen, its a bit confusing.
And the bonus cloud area... you should remake it

no, its not bad, its just unusual You can do what you want as long as the level is fun, but its true that the level looks a bit ugly with them.

oh,crap.

i was so excited and about to go onto youtube today,to upload my (awesome) new vid of the first 2(the first being completed) levels of my hack. truly awsome.

oh crap.
my comp just crashed
now it wont boot

AAAGH!

so i will just tell you, while furiously typing away(touching!) on my DSi's Web browser.

i created a second level. it is awesome. it is underground, it has a secret area, it has some really big gaps in the ground with see-saws over them. and pipes. and blocks.
it is NOT in any way at all difficult unles you have NEVER played a mario game.

it is incomplete, finishable, but still loks like an edit, and has only a few enemies and coins.

HOWEVER!

the first level is basically finished, it is as you see in my first edit, but rather than a vine, it has pipe cannons. yayz.
it also has a few more goombas. and less blocks, and no getting stuck at the start or middle. and scroll control. and star coins which arent even in order.. ah well.
oh! and re created 3rd area, and red coins, and um... yeah.

im sorry about the bad explanation, and lack of vid or patch or nmls.

to be honest, i have devoted 99% of my haxoring time to mvl haxing.. yes i will include my (annoying) basement level, and my (awesome but buggy and often not worky(read mvl topic) pipe world). but not my(completely stuffed) grassland(completely stuffed to the point of needing recreation i mean too.). heh.

oh what an update. good thing i have two flashcards! (what with my comp crashed aswell, back-up for my rom!)

i must say im taking a break from haxing for a while. but remember this is just a fun hack. yay.


thanks to everyone in this forum by the way, i have discovered some new things thanks to you. there is a part in my level where you can step on a switch to break some blocks in your path. (i learned that while examining HSDB (dario bros) in NSMBe. (dont worry i wont steal any ideas) so yeah. THANKS!!!!1!!!!

Nice work Dark!!

The multiplayer levels are fun as heck! Tried it out multicart, and it all works great so far! I found a pipe in the pipe world which takes me to the ice world, as well haha!! I think the idea of a huge level of MvL would be AWESOME!

but you should see whats in store for the next release!

so far i have:

Finished designing the mvl levels, all of them are finished but i need to iron out a few bugs.

finished levels 1-1 and 1-2.

finished 1-3 objects only, enemies arent in place yet(this level is a remake of nsmbwii 1-3 without exits). remember that a few changes will be made in this level to fit it into the camera and to make parts accessible by mario that were only by yoshi originally, it turned out suprisingly well so far!

and i have also gotten rid of the pipe to ice world, because my brother kept on using it and it was annoying because of that.

most levels i will create will be original content but there will be a few more levels or bits from other games.

i hope they will be enjoyable.

Yeah.. i know i died at the end but i was about 2 seconds away from bowser jr and you all know that fight anyways.
this level is about 75% complete.
1-1 and 1-2 are 100% complete
1-3 is about 90% complete
the stone blocks were giving me trouble but its easy fixed.

Hmmm... Nice tower level.

There are a couple of things that could be improved. The first part is TOO Hard to beat. You could beat it because you had the saved flower, but what happens if you have nothing when entering the level? All levels should be beatable without having to "suicide" like that.

And be careful with that spring. I think you can get stuck in that part because if the spring goes out of screen it disappears and you cannot recover it. if you throw it down maybe you loose it, and you cannot continue. You can fix it by putting a solid on top ground before (so you cant throw the spring down) and after (so you cant fall down again when the spring has disappeared) the spring part.

Played your hack for a while, both multiplayer and single player. Very good
Some advice I give you:

Try to make your levels beautiful. I've seen weird things that you should fix. You abuse the blocks, in the first level and in the MvsL levels. They are a bit ugly. Try using more graphics from the tileset, not generic blocks.

The camera in W1-1 doesnt work well. Fix it. And another small thing you should fix is in that in 1-1 cloud area if you fall you die. You should come back to the main level. Do it with sprite 155 (warp to level).

For MvsL, the levels are quite fun. I played them with a friend today and we had a lot of fun.
But there are some problems:
- They arent so "dynamic" as the original ones. In the original ones it was possible to go through the whole level running. In this ones not. I keep getting killed by the goomba next to the hole in grassland level or falling into the hole (trying to avoid the goomba ) Why dont you test the levels in single player mode to make them more dynamic? (import them into a single player level, they still work, but there are no stars)

- You seem to LOVE making two block high passages! Specially in underground level. Those passages are hard to enter when you are big mario and they are not on the ground (you have to jump to enter them). You could fix that to make them higher at the beginning and after two block high, once you're already in.

- In the underground level, you can get stuck inside that closed square with 4 coins if you are small mario. If the other player is big, breaks some blocks of it, you enter it, and the other player gets a star, the walls come back and you cant break them because you're small and you stay there. Too bad

- Some connected pipes in pipe world dont work well. In the path for connected pipes, there's the first and last nodes, which the Unknown 6 tells the direction Mario comes out of the pipe (0 is down, and it goes counter-clockwise if i remember correctly). I guess thats your problem.

and last but not least:
- THE SPIKES in castle level!!!! Take them out!! Right NOW!!

Very fun levels, and you could make a VERY nice hack if you try to keep in mind all these things. And over all, to make a good hack, you have to PLAY your levels a thousand times. You dont know the times i played my levels from HSDB, and checked that they work OK. And I still find errors (look at tower's secret exit!!!!) which i fix, and play again, and fix them. And i give my hack to my friends to play it, and they still find more errors and glitches. Today a friend of mine pointed out that a warp to level in w1-4 was too small and if you jump too far you die instead of entering the warp.

im glad you like my hack and i agree about having to try levels thousands of times before getting them right, im working on 1-4 now and ive tried it so many times to get it right, i think im running out of ideas

oh, and i've seen that you took my hard super dario bros ROM and edited from it, and you have left world 1-4 and so on of my hack. Try not to include other people's levels in your hack. It's OK, I know you didnt make it on purpose, but keep it in mind
