I am going to replace the picture level with a flat world, and test it to find out what happens. I will PM you the results.

There's many more camera triggers to be found when you replace the Haunted Mansion with flatworld.

In case you didn't know, I already experimented replacing all levels with flatworld (except the end picture) to test the cameras in each level.

And we already know that the camera triggers are not in the level script, that's why we're looking for them elsewhere.

As for "PMing" me the results... Why would you do that? This should be posted in the forum, just like any discovery, so that everyone here knows about it.

I have a suggestion, since I saw in another thread that you plan on changing the Extended ROM. In order to prevent people from scrapping, why don't you make a Text Exporter/Importer? A Level Exporter/Importer(Exports/Imports the actual Level Script and Data)? Pretty much anything that could be exported and imported that hasn't been yet? It would be convenient, and less people would want to(or have to) scrap their projects.

Also good for Backups without Backing up the entire ROM.

Just a suggestion, I don't care if you add it or not, it would just be nice if you did.

Mayhaps that could be done, OniLink, but the different stuff in the new version will be so dramatic that the old projects will probably be scrapped in part or whole due to being far less of a change to the game by comparison to what the new version will do.

Furthermore, riddle me this: would it make more sense for him to spend his time just finishing the new features which add to the functionality and allow more real editing, or spend hours creating backwards compatibility with a limited tool for people who scrap their projects over a new version they don't even have to download? (They can continue using the old versions freely, by all means, so why would they scrap it, again? If it's so they can use the new version then clearly they, too, want to do serious polygon hacking, which then gives a very good reason to scrap or have to re-enter the old work, as it's a totally new thing.)

Maybe you're right. It would make more sense to work on the new features. Maybe someone else could make an Exporter/Importer for those kinds of things? I might just go ahead and make it myself.

Actually I already have code to do exactly what you're asking for (importing/exporting levels as text files), it was a planned feature for a while. But there's still the interface to the code to be done, as well as error checking and debugging. And yes at this point, finishing the level importer is more important to me.

I agree. The only scenario where someone would want to save old level data that I can think of is if it was made in a FlatWorld Level.

I've noticed that not all the textures can be edited with in the texture importer/exporter. The portraits from upstairs and downstairs (minus tiny huge island) are not editable.

I'd also love to edit Yoshi's colors. Would it be possible to make a color edited for yoshi like mario's?

Have you read anything that's going on in this forum? There will be a polygon importer that lets you create entirely new levels from stratch. That's coming someday, which was clearly labeled as a thread title.

If you mean edit existing terrain, VL-Tone's already said that would be very difficult to do. Just export it to a 3D program and work with it there.

How about an option to make enemies disappear when you look at them, as if they are boos. Otherwise, they have the same behavior (i.e. bob-ombs would still explode, goombas would still run, etc.) However, I don't know much about programming so this may be hard to do. I was just thinking it might help some people to do a luigi's mansion 64 or something. It would just be cool to me.

I know it'd be an incredible amount of work and may not even possible for another 10-15 years or so of constant hacking, but would it ever be possible to swap Mario's model out with other models? I've seen in another post that Mario has a skeletal structure made of poles inside of him. If you could insert his skeleton into another model, could it be done? I know this wouldn't come along for an incredibly long time, and it'd probably start with something relatively simple like a Goomba which messiaen has already hacked into, but could it happen from your current knowledge of the game(by this I mean from what is currently known, it's still hasn't been ruled out.)?

Well, using what we currently know, what could be eventually possible is replace each Mario body part with individually imported models. That means, any character replacing Mario would have to keep the same number of body parts and the same parts hierarchy.

It would be cool to make and easier interface...
Like..
Down instead of the moving thing, a moving button, then hold the object and move it
Or and rotate object button, press and hold the click on an object an start moving the mouse for it to rotate
Or even on camera.
It's just one suggestion anyway
(press the button and start clicking)

Could you add the function to ask if you want to overwrite the current rom to the extender because I just lost the hack I was working on...

I've noticed while editing textures that some textures are given a tint before being placed into the game. The coins are an obvious example but there are more. The lips of the Piranha plant are texture.

It's hard to tell but from my edits, this is the texture for there lips.

Another example is texture 650.

Not only is it the hand rails on the bridge across the moat to the main castle door, its the grassy hills that you can't climb in the same area.

The King of tints texture 544.

It's used in all the Bowser courses but it's always tinted slightly.

Also Bowser is tinted in the final battle.

I was wondering if the next next version of Toad's Tool could have a way to change these tints or whatever there actual name is.

Along with that, the rest of the textures(or at least the other paintings) editable and a description of what the texture is assigned to. I'd help out with finding out where each texture goes if it's to much of a work load.

I request two functions:

1. Copy and Paste objects.
2. A button where it says "New Object" and when i click on the button i can select a object that i want to place on the map.

Those have already been put in 0.6, from what I've seen of the screenshots.
