So tonight for my Energy homework my roommate (who is also in the class) and I have to do an energy audit where we track the amount of energy we use in a week for every electronic device we have. Everything was going fine until we realize that we have to count the overhead lights in addition to everything else. The ceilings in this room are easily 10 feet high. So what do we do? Well we use the only things we can find to get up to the light panel: chairs.
The lights are those long tube ones and are behind a hinged panel. The chairs in the room only give about 1 1/2 feet height so we're stretching to the max to open the hinge. In addition, these chairs have built-in rockers on the backs of the legs. Basically, you lean back and they lean back with you. I'll bet you can already see where this is leading. So we get the light out to look at its wattage with no problems. We even manage to get the light in okay. When we go to put the panel back though, it doesn't want to fit in like it should. My side goes in, his doesn't. Leaning towards his side to look at why it's not going in all of a sudden I'm on the floor with a leg in pain, a bit of lost breath and a flipped chair. So I get on the bed to recover for a second. Roommate is fine though he notices that I landed on his foot as I fell. Turns out my thigh landed on him so hard that I broke a blood vessel in his foot. Well damn that explains why my leg hurts so much, his foot was on the edge of the chair already meaning that I hit the chair's edge on the way down. Makes perfect sense as to why it hurts. So I recover and get up. Leg still hurts a bunch (still does as I type this) and I go over to once again look at the panel. He gets back up on the chair and suddenly we're hearing a weird sound coming from the chair. Upon inspection we discover the following:
Turns out I landed on his foot and the chair with my thigh SO HARD that I actually broke the chair leg THROUGH HIS FOOT. Jesus H Christ man. So then I swore a few times in amazement, swore at the fact that now I have a broken chair that will need replacing and probably cost me about ~$25 to Residence Life and then we went down to the RA office to let them know slash ask for a stepladder to finish putting up the panel. So that took 40 minutes and since then I haven't been able to concentrate on the homework because I've been too busy nursing my leg in general, just distracted by the whole thing. I'm starting to get worried about it, it hurts like hell to move around a lot. If it hurts worse in the morning, I may go to the health center to have it looked at. tl;dr: I broke a chair with my thigh trying to do some homework. I hope you're happy Energy class. ____________________ |

That actually sounds really painful. Sucks to hear you're beat up like that.
