Are you forgetful?

I forget things constantly. I'm the one who gets to the register with a bunch of purchases only to realize that I brought no money whatsoever with me, or I get partway to school and realize I forgot my books and/or laptop. I've even forgotten my keys. When I did that in Germany, I had to wait outside for someone who knew how to both speak English and pick a lock. Twice.

I also often forget to check my E-mail and such. My mom constantly IMs me with stuff like "Did you get my E-mail?".

Oh god absolutely, almost every time I'm working I have to ask how much meat/cheese they wanted sliced. I just can't remember it for more then 8 seconds...

Not really. I've forgotten a few things here and there, but I'm usually great on remembering things.

I tend to remember stuff like names and information pretty well, and I don't usually forget to bring things with me, but I'm horrible at remembering tasks. If I start procrastinating something will usually get put off indefinitely. That's why it's probably a good idea for me to remember to get stuff out of the way early.

I pick up objects and put them down in random places, then never remember when I've put them.

I also randomly switch tasks, often forgetting what I was doing in the process.

I'm not forgetful, so much as absent-minded--my tendency to change plans/ideas causes me to leave bits and pieces of things all over the place.

I have a problem with remembering things. For examle, I'll think of something or have a question, and when I go to ask, I can't remember. Sometimes I'll remember up to 3 days afterwards. I'll also sit something down and forget where I put it when I need it.

I'm bad at remembering people. It seems like everyone remembers me and I never remember anyone if I haven't seen or otherwise interacted with them recently. It could be a face recognition problem as I can usually remember people online going by username.

I have issues trying to recall certain events and whatnot.

For example, my respect for other people is based off of how they've reacted in the past. If, say, I end up mad at somebody, I won't be able to remember exactly what they did. Rather, I can only recall a general basis (somebody being a douche, but no recollection of what they said or when it happened).

This often becomes a problem when somebody tries to take advantage of me. However, if I have a feeling of mistrust in someone, I tend to stick with it regardless of my memory.

Uh, yeah.

Just the most useless crap ever! But it's hard to explain...

People - names, faces, general information - forget it. It's gone before it's committed to memory.

Where I put shit: same idea. I've adapted by putting my shit in the same place every time.

Tasks: eh, it varies. If I'm working on something for a while, I will of course remember what I'm doing, but if it's just a bunch of errands or "do this, do that", I might remember the this, but not likely the that. Like today I was leaving, but I was told to take the garbage out while I was leaving. Two minutes later, I'm leaving without the garbage. I only remember after I've left, and need to go back, unlock the door and get it.

As far as long term stuff goes, if it's something I care about or have an interest in, it's good. It commits fine and stays for a while. If it's for some bullshit class or some other stupid crap, forget it. I can't keep it for longer than a few minutes.

I can be forgetful at times with what I was going to do just a few moments ago, but then it comes back to me just seconds later

With names, I don't make myself remember them. Might seem rude, but I don't make a habit of remembering names. Now after awhile, if you're around me, the name will eventually stick.

I tend to forget if I posted in threads, so sometimes I'll post essentially the same thing twice in one thread thinking I've only posted once.

I'm pretty bad with names, but I can remember a face easily.
I'm alright with phone numbers, but I tend to mix them up.
And oddly enough I remember most of my friends' middle names.

I somehow forgot my own phone number recently. The one that kept popping into my head was my old number for some reason and I couldn't remember my new one. I wish more places would allow you to just leave/give an E-mail address so I don't get called early in the morning or when I'm not by the phone.

Yeah, when I phone my house, my first instinct is to dial the number of my friend's house.

It's kinda interesting how different people have better or worse memory for certain things. I wonder what the cause is. Whether it's just a natural matter of interest or if some people's brains are physically better at storing certain types of data.
